When you're selling to the decision maker, there is no such thing as "buuuudget". All there is: ROI/is this worth it/why should I do it?

Rider = the brain. Elephant = the emotion. People buy based on emotion. Facts may bring them to the conversation, but the emotional trigger is what makes the decision.

Great Advice. Thank you Charles. I'm greatful that my manager does not micromanage us. But i know many people who need this advice.

You are one of the lucky ones! I doubt people aspire to be a micromanager when they get first promoted. Most people have some level of 'healthy concern' about not becoming that person. That’s a good place to start!

For many years (nursery-high school) I lived with a certain Shame because I thought something was ‘wrong’ with me. the teachers would complain that I was disruptive, I was doing poorly in school, I talk to much etc. The funny thing is I ‘talk’ for a living now 😄

Great story, Charles. I am working on Vasa Warship as we speak. Also with a client who changes their mind a lot, so it is my role to set up guard rails early. Not the easiest, but we're getting there.

Agreed! Also, the best sales person the the one who knows what they're selling is the best (albeit only in their own minds). Trust in your product/service.
@CharlesFlyingKite

Hi Jaco I want to make sure I understand what you mean- A salesperson that understands and believes in their services and products will make more sales? If that is the case- Yes and no. Yes- A salesperson needs to understand his industry and takes time to understand a client’s pain points. No-If he talks more than he listens, then he won’t have long term success. Think about a call centre agent that talks and push the product as soon as you answer the call, will that make you want to buy? I doubt :)
