Thanks for this video my guy! Would this pair well with my FX30 you think? The low light capability worries me but I think it will be just fine hopefully!

hey, great video! i own the action 4 too and I think it does make a pretty awesome bts cam! The dji mimo app can also help you to import the footage directly into your iPhone wirelessly, and can help convert your log footage when you’re in a pinch!

Hey Juan love the video ! Question, I see the video head is $450+ dollars which is expensive for me as I am in my first year of shooting sports and I mainly shoot free lance. Is a fluid head that expensive needed to pair with the hi hat ? I shoot mainly field sports and want to purchase the hi hat but the video head price scares me

Another question for you Juan - is there a video head you'd recommend for a budget conscious newbie?

Thanks Juan. Just jumping into the game feet first right now. I totally get that when you're jumping in, you just have to be resourceful in finding ways to get better, but QUESTION: any particular workshops you think I should look out for online, in person (live in US) or any other creator on KZbin who focuses on teaching? Thanks again for this!

Of course! That being said using manual focus by yourself when doing a talking head video isn’t the easiest thing ever 😅 I was too trusting of my auto focus with my f1.4 lens at the distances I was away from camera. Most times I’m at f2.8-4 and I don’t have that issue.

I think less than the physical its more about having to deal with politics like feeling like you’re at the mercy of brands or companies for gigs. If budgets are cut or things are slow you’re slow. That causes me to feel burn out..
@JuanMoralesCreative29 күн бұрын
I totally understand this! I think a big help here for me was also making time to make the projects and work I want to be hired for - even though that is active work, there’s a passion behind spec work that helps it be less of a pain.
@Conjuredfilms29 күн бұрын
@ yes I agree thats why I’ve made some attempts to be active on this channel and make videos. I’m also trying to write again but the whole being at the mercy of other people thing is tough.. not that you wouldn’t be at the mercy if you were say a nurse 9-5 kinda job but its different theres more job security and you’re less expendable. Specially with sports! I’ve shot xfl, f1, indycar, big 3 and teams will want to hire full time OR they’ll have some guy willing to do A LOT for very little. For sports I feel like its more about people liking you and being at the right place at the right time.
@JuanMoralesCreative29 күн бұрын
@Conjuredfilms @Conjuredfilms I think that’s what makes working in this industry as rewarding as it is tough. I truly believe that you can make it if you put in the work… it’s been a 7 year journey for me and I’ve been very fortunate to be where I am now, but you said it best - being liked and being somewhere at the right time, which equates to networking above all else! It’s absolutely an industry where you can find opportunity through connection which is why networking is INCREDIBLY important.
@Conjuredfilms29 күн бұрын
@@JuanMoralesCreative 1000% I also think being friends with fellow video/film folk is motivating and brings each other up. Thats been a perk on the channel and putting myself out there a bit. I'm sure its the same for you.

Do you have any opinion on a high hat vs a monopod that can get very low ? Which is better for what ? I do not see why a monopod would be better in any case for video ?

Brother film makers are not using atomos products 😂😂😂 they are way too unreliable. Just stick with content creators in this category
@JuanMoralesCreativeАй бұрын
As someone who actively works in the film industry… I see atomos just as much as other brands 🤷♂️
@DonotcareabyouropinionАй бұрын
@ highly doubt anyone’s plugging in a atomos monitor to an arri Alexa. Or a panavision. Maybe a a Sony fx3. lol I own literally every lineup from atomos monitor collection and they are all terrible. The only reliable one I have is my shinobi 7. And even that’s terrible.

This might be a first but I typed "How can I create an aesthetic-themed Instagram by posting short clips (with little editing, just a cinematic shot) that make sports look cinematic while keeping up with current trends and growing in followers?" in chat gpt because I want to start an Instagram like that, and it brought up a link to this video. If your "How viewers find this video" analytic says chat gpt: 1 view, it was me 😂

I can attest to the importance of free work. I started at University hockey and then the ECHL. Currently working with an NHL team. Can’t stress the importance of using free work to practice your craft is the key. I’ve even been contacted by players agents from that ECHL team to create videos for them to get more notice. Think of the free work as an investment on your career much like gear.

good point about the 120fps, the 24 fps motion blur is definitely sweet but yea 60-120fps can be a lot safer. Though the jittery cranked shutter look works well in sports imo too. I've wanted to try plugins like RSMB I think that add realistic motion blur (they said it was used in that boxing movie with Christian Bale), I think that'd be pretty helpful if the scene could use the 24fps-esque motion blur, even though it's not exactly the same as getting it in camera 👍
