Mnaual focus will get rid of that focus hunting, fyi!

Of course! That being said using manual focus by yourself when doing a talking head video isn’t the easiest thing ever 😅 I was too trusting of my auto focus with my f1.4 lens at the distances I was away from camera. Most times I’m at f2.8-4 and I don’t have that issue.

I think less than the physical its more about having to deal with politics like feeling like you’re at the mercy of brands or companies for gigs. If budgets are cut or things are slow you’re slow. That causes me to feel burn out..

I totally understand this! I think a big help here for me was also making time to make the projects and work I want to be hired for - even though that is active work, there’s a passion behind spec work that helps it be less of a pain.

@ yes I agree thats why I’ve made some attempts to be active on this channel and make videos. I’m also trying to write again but the whole being at the mercy of other people thing is tough.. not that you wouldn’t be at the mercy if you were say a nurse 9-5 kinda job but its different theres more job security and you’re less expendable. Specially with sports! I’ve shot xfl, f1, indycar, big 3 and teams will want to hire full time OR they’ll have some guy willing to do A LOT for very little. For sports I feel like its more about people liking you and being at the right place at the right time.

@Conjuredfilms @Conjuredfilms I think that’s what makes working in this industry as rewarding as it is tough. I truly believe that you can make it if you put in the work… it’s been a 7 year journey for me and I’ve been very fortunate to be where I am now, but you said it best - being liked and being somewhere at the right time, which equates to networking above all else! It’s absolutely an industry where you can find opportunity through connection which is why networking is INCREDIBLY important.

@@JuanMoralesCreative 1000% I also think being friends with fellow video/film folk is motivating and brings each other up. Thats been a perk on the channel and putting myself out there a bit. I'm sure its the same for you.
