Great informative video. Water has gotten inside the light fixture for me which probably means I will need to change the gasket. Hopefully not a full replacement part.

Thanks for the comment! I replaced the gasket on mine and had good results from it for a few years before I traded the truck towards a different one. Even if the gasket doesn't hold up for an extended period, it's inexpensive compared to the entire light housing and could be replaced a few times if need be to keep the water out. I originally did this repair because I was seeing water making its way into the cab (staining on the headliner), but quickly learned that it was also allowing water into the brake light assembly as well and THAT was messing with the trailer brake sensors in the truck (I was getting an alert in the dash very frequently) and this was never mentioned anywhere that I had seen as a way to address that specific error.

@hotcamaro9145 18 күн бұрын
Hi, and thanks for the question! My understanding is that the Gen6 cars do NOT have this feature available, but the Gen5 cars did come with it. I am not aware of any mention of the "TravelLink" or similar marketing terms from SiriusXM being used anywhere with the Gen6 cars. I can tell you that, as someone that HAD that feature in a previous vehicle (granted, it was something like 15 years ago), I found it pretty useless. The data was always delayed significantly to where things like traffic updates were useless. I have an app called MyRadar that will project to the Android Auto screen (I can see my entire state with radar info, for example) and I use Google Maps / Waze for navigation which do a good job of keeping up with changing traffic conditions. The one piece I don't have any app for (because I don't have the luxury of being overly picky) is something that helps me track gas prices. Waze can do it, but like the traffic data from SiriusXM... the info is often out of date. I stick with Costco for the Camaro (I have a couple of them that are close enough to make it easy to go there to fill up) and a local station for the truck (non-premium, same price as Costco).

Thanks for getting back to me I know the 2016 and 2018 have the mylink and you can get Sirius xm travel like ? But maybe on the 2019 to 2024 when they changed the radio to infotainment system 3 they must not have that anymore?

What does this even do?
@hotcamaro9145
@hotcamaro9145 6 ай бұрын
Thanks for the great question! In hindsight, I probably should have included a little more info about it. Here's the gist - the convertible top is controlled by a rocker switch that is "press-and-hold" for functionality. This modules removes the "and-hold" part of that so you only need a momentary press of the rocker to operate the top into the fully opened or fully closed position. From the factory, you can also use the key fob to put the top down - this module makes that actually work (and much more simply) AND it adds the ability to also put the top UP with the fob as well as adding the ability to operate the top using the lock button on the door handle of the car.

Nice car. So I know this is an old video but you said you have navigation on it. I have a 2020 2ss very similar to yours. I didn't buy it new. It didn't come with navigation. I asked the dealer to install it but they told me that nav can't be installed on the car. Do you know anything about that? Is that true after the fact?
@hotcamaro9145
@hotcamaro9145 Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment and the question! You can add Navigation if you have radio code IOS. Check the door jamb and the trunk for any stickers that list out the various build codes on your car (although these were disappearing by 2020). If you can't find the sticker, you can try pulling up your window sticker here: cws.gm.com/vs-cws/vehshop/v2/vehicle/windowsticker?vin= (add your VIN at the very end, no spaces). Look for the 8" Radio in the Interior section. Next, you need to open the armrest on the console - is the plug in there two USB connections only, or does it also have a SD-CARD slot? If you have the right radio and the SD-CARD slot, you can buy a kit for $500 online that comes with the card (map database) and the OBD-II connector to program your car to turn the navigation on.

@hotcamaro9145
@hotcamaro9145 Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the question! I had to use Translate, so I may have the question a little wrong. I believe you mentioned you have a 2017, charged the battery, and found it was losing charging somewhat quickly. You had it looked at and they found a 6A current draw that was draining the battery. You asked if something was maybe bad or if something might need to be reset. If I have that right... That's a fairly high current draw for when the car is off. My car will slowly lose charge over time if I don't have it on a tender / maintainer, but it takes a few months to drop low enough to where it sees the battery as basically dead. I would suggest starting by looking for any modifications you've done or items you've added (LED light swaps, dash cam, etc.). Try completely unplugging all of those to see if the draw stops then re-connect them one at a time until you find the culprit. If the car is completely stock, then something has gone bad and is causing issues. You'll need the help of a dealer or a quality auto electrical shop to track it down unless you can find a chewed / burned wiring harness somewhere (rodent damage is another common issue with electrical problems). Hope that helps!

Thanks, found your video on NextGen site (I know you got your at EOS..but they only have gloss currently). Question now that you are 2+ yrs out. How's it holding up finish wise with unfinished blk ABS? I was going to get the OEM 1LE SatinBlack front spoiler on Chevy Parts, but it’s 175 more than this repo from NextGen. So looking into this one. But I’m thinking like you regarding having the front match the rear black ABS and going with the “Primer Black” option. Wondering if you still like that option you went with. I have a '21 1SS coup, M6, Wild Cherry Tint, carbon-flash wheels with NPP. In '21, the NPP has the same stock matt finish as you have. Oh, I also have the same ZL1Addon splash guards as you, thet are great.

@hotcamaro9145 Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment and question... As far as the finish goes, zero issues or complaints. However, the car is always garaged and has less than 10k miles on it still. Also, one of my side skirts was damaged by something being kicked up off of the road... there's a small piece missing and a crack as well. I'm contemplating replacing them as a result, and would likely remove the splitter as well and paint everything to match in a gloss black / clear. In other words, it seems to be holding up fine with limited sun exposure. Given the chance to do it again, I would be more patient and paint them.

Another OCD method: I applied pressure to both sideskirts at once by using the wall in my garage and another vehicle on the driverside parked about 3 ft away. I placed a 10 ft 2x6 edgewise against the front and back tires (of the vehicle I parked next to my SS) and then custom cut (four) 2x4's to apply pressure to the sideskirt by lightly tapping them in place against three 2ft 1x2's. I placed a microfiber towel between the 1x2 and the sideskirt. (the 2x4 is wedged into the 2x6 at the floor similar to what you did at 6:53 ) This applied pressure down the entire length of the sideskirt. Did the same on the passenger side using the garage wall. Left overnight in closed garage (this was during July) PERFECT adhesion and fitment.

Great tips to install without removing the tires. Here are a few additional observations that might help in addition to your hints. 1. If you use 3M adhesive primer in the front fender area where the 3M tape attaches to, the tape will adhere extremely stronger. 2. You are correct regarding the rear that the longer spacer goes at the top instead of the bottom. 3. I found it easier on the rear to install the middle spacer/screw first loosely. You can then turn the flap out at the top to install the top spacer/screw loosely and then twist the bottom of the flap to install the bottom spacer/screw loosely. Tighten the screws as you suggest in order from top to bottom.

Thanks for the comment! Adhesion promoter is not at all required here. Physical abrasion with the alcohol wipe down completely replaces the need for adhesion promoter and can be done with very inexpensive items already in the home. Further adhesion promoters can be caustic, can cause damage when used incorrectly, and serve no other purpose (isopropyl alcohol has a lot of household uses). Thanks for the question! There are two major aspects of matching paint. The color is mostly straight-forward while getting the overall look correct with the right level of metal flake, matte, etc. is much more subtle. In some ways, white is easier to match, but it won't look right at all if the way it reflects light is wrong. In order for Apple Car Play / Android Auto to be available, you would need to have the 8" radio (standard radio is the 7"). Also, the software interface on the 2019 and up will look like mine (2020 model year) while the prior ones aren't the same. Maybe those are the reasons yours looks different?

How’s it holding up without rivets ?

Thanks for the question! Zero issues here after about two years being installed. All road use, plenty highway driving, but only about 7000 miles logged as of now (if that helps). The screws "do all the work" for everything under the car, so the area to be wary of is the very front edge and specifically where it is adhered to the bottom of the front bumper. If you properly clean that surface and prep it, the tape should be able to hold more than well enough for regular road use.

Started installing my rock guards on my '13 SS the other day and had to stop when I realized that the rear wheels had to come off hah, front ones are one but driveway was too soft from raining a lot recently to jack it up and get wheels off to do them.

Thanks for the comment! I was fortunate to be able to install the rear ones without pulling the wheels, but it was definitely tight getting the tools in there.

Hey I installed mine a few days ago. The tape where it bonded is visible all the way around. Is that the case for yours too? … I’m thinking whether I should redo it or not. I don’t see how it would fit otherwise though

Thanks for the question! Yes, the treasure is visible but the dark gray color against the black of the splitter combined with it being set back slightly from the edge keep it from looking "obvious". I'll follow up here soon for you with a pic.

@@hotcamaro9145 thanks for the reply. So it is fine then ! I thought I had done something wrong haha. I was thinking to put a black pinstripe in that little gap so that it doesn’t show at all

Thank you for the comment and the very kind words. The fender hash mark is a dealer installed option that was part of how the car was ordered. I had actually asked the dealership to NOT install it before I took delivery (it was a stock order, not ordered by me) but changed my mind. I'm glad I ended up having them put it on. Couldn’t get mine to fit on back of my 2022 ZL1. Will have to remove my back wheels.

@hotcamaro9145 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment! My car has barely enough room to do this without pulling the wheels. The ZL1 wheels are just a little larger, so I would expect the only route would be removing them to install these rock guards. Come back and let us know how it goes and don't forget to like and subscribe!

If you start at the bottom of the lens and lift upward, it comes off without much resistance.

Just from experience, if you sand where you put the tape you will get less of a bond. The 3m tape will stick way better to a smooth surface.
@hotcamaro9145

Thanks for the comment! There's a lot of variables to stuff like this. The method I used was derived very closely from the specific directions that 3M offers. Their directions are generally to clean (remove items that can reduce adhesion), prime (create a smoother surface like you mention), "abrasion" (which is basically the same as fine sanding like I did - again, to create a smoother surface), and then install the tape to a cleaned (again) surface. So, while I do use sandpaper, I'm using a fine grit and light pressure to actually accomplish what you're describing - a reasonably smooth overall surface. Don't forget to like and subscribe!
