How has your Cerakote held up on your header? Also, did it reduce underhood temperature? I can't get a straight answer if Cerakote is a thermal barrier like JetHot or purely a cosmetic ceramic coating.

Brother, to make the turbo change, did you need to make an improvement to the engine or transmission? or did you just tune the computer? I have a gst and I want to put a 16g turbo in it but I don't know if the engine or transmission needs to be improved

Next time, bleed the clutch slave cylinder. It can have air in the lines like break lines. There’s a bleed valve on the slave cylinder, would be the same process as bleeding brakes, +1 person. If no air then go into it deeper, start simple first and work the list in order

And with your reverse gear, sometimes a stretched cable can affect the way your car shifts. I wanna help you. I have a spare set of cables off my gsx, id be happy to donate to you. Not only to help with content but it could possibly eliminate any slack in your linkage.

The primary reason was I wanted more power, but I also wanted to learn more about how to work on cars. That's one of the reasons I bought my Eclipse... to learn! The factory turbo was in decent shape, although it did have a little bit of shaft play.

Sounds like a fun project! Kinda sucks that the previous owner didn’t take very good care of it, seems to be all too common with these cars. Best places that I’ve found for OEM parts is STM Tuned, Xtreme PSI, or an online Mitsubishi parts vendor like Mitsubishi Parts Now. If the parts are no longer manufactured then Rock Auto works too 👍

hey dude, another sick video :) just wanna say, you will whole heartedly regret selling this car. I promise lol. So with that being said I would totally save a few bucks and get the slave and master cylinder replaced so you can drive it again. BEFORE you buy a house I would 100% get a cheap reliable daily, Like a toyota camery or an older lexes of some variety. Then you have 2 cars to use. And a cheap daily you can get for a few grand. like a month or 2 of work. just hang in there and part by part your car and your life will slowly come together. Dont rush the house to fast lol.
@chadjohnson6229 Жыл бұрын
Have someone depress the clutch to the floor and watch to see if the slave cylinder is actually moving the shift fork (there is a small window where the slave actuates on the side of the transmission) If not, the transmission will not go into gear, thus your slave or master may need replacing. With funds being limited, the slave is the cheapest and easiest to replace. Worst case scenario is that you have some destroyed transmission synchros but I hope that’s not the case. I would also look at your shifter bushings on the top side of the transmission as they should “move” the shit linkage when putting the car into gear. Hope this helps brother - these cars are almost 30 years old now.

Had both the low/poor clutch adjustment and broken door switch panel on my 97 GS-T Spyder. Found out my clutch master cylinder was leaking so I replaced it along with a 1 piece stainless steel clutch line (which replaced the accumulator). I also used the video from another DSM’r “Todays Project Guide” to adjust my clutch, which solved my problem. I also used JB Weld to hold my door switch panel to the door card and it’s held up well. Good luck, good to see you back making DSM videos again, God Bless.

@chadjohnson6229 Жыл бұрын
@@vanlassthegreat9734 It was Today’s Project Guide who did a KZbin video on a clutch cable install and proper adjustment. My clutch engaged right off the floor and was soft. A new stainless steel 1 piece clutch line, a new clutch master cylinder (mine was leaking), and a clutch pedal adjustment resolved my engagement point, moving it further up the pedal travel. Going with the 1 piece clutch line also allowed me to eliminate the clutch accumulator located near the passenger shock tower. Their firmed up my clutch pedal as well. Hope this helps.

What are your thoughts on ceramic coating a high flow catted downpipe? I'm thinking about getting an after market downpipe for my A91 Supra but wasnt sure if it's even worth it.
@TheBoostedRose Жыл бұрын
Yo! Congrats on the Supra! I love those things. In terms of the downpipe, I think that that is definitely a worthwhile upgrade on the A91 platform (lots of cars out there with a downpipe, exhaust, and tune making serious power). But ceramic coating it won’t do much since the point of ceramic coating is to hold in the heat, which is useful for an exhaust manifold (greater heat = greater exhaust gas speed) but not so much for the downpipe. Hope this helps 👍
@chrisginoc Жыл бұрын
@@TheBoostedRose So you wouldn't recommend it on a high flow catted downpipe? Just wondering if it's a waste of money
@TheBoostedRose Жыл бұрын
@chrisg559 No, I don’t think ceramic coating it will do much. If you plan on racing your Supra, then a ceramic coat or heat wrap can help prevent the heat from getting into the engine bay, but if you’re not racing your Supra then I don’t think you need to ceramic coat it. Forums are your friend though, so I’d also recommend looking in some A91 Supra forums and seeing what they say.
