This only applies for effects that substitute destruction, if what is being substituted is also destroyed simultaneously. For example, Hugins protection effect cannot apply if a card would destroy both Hugin and what you attempt to protect with it. Neither applies to the situation at the timestamp; Wonky Quartet only destroys monsters, and Kings Sarc is not a substitution, and works like Field Barrier + Field Spell vs. Feather Duster

I'm not Trent but I think you're wrong here. Tearlaments is inherently OP because of the nature of milling and the complete lack of xenolocks. In yugioh, chain blocking allows you to protect effects in a way that the opponent cannot respond effectively. You could have a full negate board, or 5 solemns set and you still may not be able to beat a cracked ish tear hand. Mill strategies in TCGs have always stood the test of time and will never not be good because any card with a great GY effect will be great in tearlaments. As for 5 years of powercreep, 5 years ago was TOSS format. There is no reason those strategies aren't viable today, except that the archetypes that have been meta now are better at swarming the field. Their one card starters are just better at pivoting into fiendsmith, generic links or slotting more handtraps if the main play gets stopped. But if a banlist hit/banned the starters for Ryzeal or Maliss to one, are they that much stronger than TOSS format decks? Not really, no. I think the paranoia with powercreep is overblown.

@@AxielFan Ishizu Tear is OP, because of how much they can play on "turn 0". You win the coin toss, and you mistakenly believe you're going first when suddenly they discard Havnis, which mills Agido, or Kelbek, or another tear name, which mills even more cards, and out of nowhere they went full combo, on your turn, even though you went first, all because you made the mistake of activating a monster effect. No other deck can do that to such an extent and with so much consistency. It's truly solitaire, because they have 2 turns and you have no turn. This is why the only viable match up was the mirror, because they can almost always play before you, even if your deck is full of hard counters to grave yard strategies.

Wouldn't Crusadia Avramax just shuffle accesscode talker back to the extra deck if sent to the graveyard? The opponent did make the right play by going into Ty-Phon since Ty-Phon's effect to bounce back to hand is non targeting. But I'm guessing they misclicked by activating that spell card, which would destroy Ty-Phon lol

@LordTrent. Me too, I play what I enjoy as well. I have always loved Dragons, and I play Dark Dragons. My first original deck was Odd-Eyes. I got to Platinum with it 2 years ago. I then transitioned to Branded Despia, and Dragon Link.

In the last duel, you failed to atk with DracoBeserker twice. He gains atk by destroying eff monsters.

It goes to grave he negated the activation not the effect, otherwise you would be correct
