Waacking is love and hate, fury and serenity, control and lack of control, that's why it is pure freedom.

In my day it was House of Ninja, Revlon and Infiniti. If you weren't in any of those Houses, you really had to prove yourself.

You left out Xtravaganza
@ThrowingShade4 жыл бұрын
@@robertharris4100 OMG yes! X-travaganza..! I had the honor and humility of being critiqued and taught a few times by Willie Ninja himself. He loved my technique and flexibility. He gave me the most invaluable tip I still use: vogueing in a waterfall to the 4/4 beat of a metronome.
@robertharris41004 жыл бұрын
@@ThrowingShade Willie was a Wonderful person. One of his last Birthday parties was at Esculitas, it was wonderful. And in retrospect, I think he knew it was one of his last Birthdays. There are now Ninjas all over the World. His dance moves are timeless. Xtravaganza used to hang out at the Paradise Garage. The owner, Michael Brody did not allow vogueing because he thought it was shady. But David Ian, Danny, Angie & Venus taught me a lot about Fashion and how to carry yourself by being examples week after week. The House lost some of there Prestige after their passing, but that's life.
@ThrowingShade4 жыл бұрын
@@robertharris4100 I was in a Chapter in Miami for about a year, and was invited to NYC to vogue for the top houses. I had to really prove myself back then, I was one of a very few white boys that could vogue old and new way. I also had some ballet skills and was extremely flexible and double jointed. I could stand and hold on point and run on point too, haha! I watch these kids today and all they do is pop and dip, I miss watching bitches really serve and give a good show. Battles like this video are what I miss seeing the most. I tried watching that Show Legendary on HBO, but it just makes me sad. It was all about the costumes, and it just seemed so rushed and phony. They've taken all the excitement and mystique out of vogueing. I must say that when I was in Europe for 15 years, the queens in Paris and London were quite fierce. It was also the first time I saw house dance, and I fell in love with that style more than vogue.
@robertharris41004 жыл бұрын
@@ThrowingShade I agree with you 100%. They kidz now make such a big deal about a twirl & a dip. Never mind hand & arms control. Never mind style & showmanship. And the shit that they wear. You can look and tell who has had training and who hasn't. I'm glad you mentioned the Paris scene. Some of those boyz & girlz are SERIOUS! Especially the Ninjas. They are truly a breath of fresh air. So I've probably seen you in Action. I watch all the videos on KZbin. You have to rummage through the trash to find the uncut diamonds who are out there Serving it. It has indeed been a pleasure communicating with someone who understands & appreciates our rich & vibrant history.
