@VWLPT sometimes dance is used to express an emotion, thought, or even sexuality. It isn't only used to express music. I've seen amazing dancers that were able to put on a powerful show with no music at all.

Last but not least, to shed some light: vogue is from the East Coast, waacking is from the West Coast. Vogue is based on fashion, runway, etc while waacking is meant to take on a character and tell a story as if you're in a movie. New York is a fashion-base, Los Angeles is movie-based. It made a lot of sense hearing this at a meet and greet from Javier Ninja (vogue dancer) and Viktor Manoel (an original waacker from Los Angeles). They both shed a lot of light on the dances.

I just want to add the exact terminology is whacking not waacking according to Viktor Manoel. As it comes from the word whack. Waack means nothing but whack means hitting which makes more sense. Apparently the word whacking was misspelled and since it wasn’t well known at the time no one really questioned it and went with it. The podcast dancespeak with Viktor Manoel explains everything.
