Never went to a Magic Pan. Never went to Chi-Chis. There were a few in Las Vegas when we visited. Fried ice cream equals soup. Not going to Austria to eat at Chi Chis. Never went to Sandy's. Yes, the Woolworth's lunch counter served good food. Never heard of Showbiz Pizza until now. Never heard of that Ginos. Never heard of Stuckey's until now. Roy Roger's, went there many times. My wife used to like it too. There is a Perkins Restaurant is not far from here.

Bennigan's, thought it was good. Never ate at Sambo's. We had a Farrell's Ice Cream Shop near here. My wife really liked it. The Farrell's near here closed down. Bob's Big Boy, went to a few of those places. It was okay. Used to have an A&W near here. It closed down several years ago. It wasn't a drive in. First time I heard of Victoria Station is right here. Never went to a York Steakhouse either. We had several Tad's Steakhouses though. The Brown Derby was on I Love Lucy. Used to have a Brown Derby in downtown Malvern on Long Island.

Arthur Treacher's was a very good place. Yes, he was Merv's sidekick. Never ate at Bonanza's Steakhouse. Used to watch Bonanza every week. Never ate at Burger Chef either. We used to like Wesson's or White Castle. My Mom liked Wesson's fries. Never ate at Ground Round. A place we went to a lot was Howard Johnson's. Ate quite a few times at Sizzler. My Mom liked it a lot. Never went to a Ponderosa Steak House. Went to visit the Ponderosa Ranch where they filmed the TV show Bonanza. It was sold to a private investor. Howard Johnson Restaurants were very good. 28 flavors of ice cream presented a big choice. Never went to a Red Barn. Never heard of Shakey's Pizza. Never heard of Steak & Ale until I saw this video.

10:00 In summer of 1965 my family relocated to Chicago. Our house was being built so we stayed at the Skokie, IL HoJo. We were just kids but we'd go into the restaurant and charge meals and snacks to our room. My dad nearly had a coronary when he got the bill. Great fun and we spent all day in the pool. I learned to swim in that pool and it was deep!

Arthur Treacher's, and Burger Chef were my favorites on this. Indianapolis had the Tee Pee and they had the best tasting burger of all time the Big Chief. Nothing came close. '

Well definitely go back to before young people take pictures of their food instead of eating it. Arthur Treacher's - Never went - didn't like fish as a kid Bonanza - Never went. Didn't like Westerns going up. Western Sizzlin' was the go to steak place. Burger Chef - The Best!! Loved it. Burgers were 20 cents in the mid 70s Ground Round - Never had it in my area Sizzler - Was that different than Western Sizzler? My dad actually would take us there once or twice a month Ponderosa - See Bonanza answer. Howard Johnson - I think once - vague memory - I think once in Baltimore Red Barn - not in my area Shakey's Pizza - Always wanted to go - parents wouldn't take us. finally went when I was a late teen. Wasn't that good. Steak and Ale - Don't drink Ale. No desire to go.

Worked at the Minot ND Bonanza 79-81. First Job. I thought it was odd when in 1980 the company went from large round China plates to a smaller plastic plate with steel insert. Maybe that was the beginning of cost-cutting measures. Fond memories....

I fondly remember getting the Sears Christmas Catalog and spending hours looking at the toys. I saved my money, making $3.35 an hour and ride my bike to Service Merchandise to buy a Seiko watch. I was so proud of that watch. ❤❤❤

I think the reason for the constantly changing restaurants is we been brainwashed by the new stuff to try and forget about what our favorites was. Of course, advertising is the "prime mover" of our decision-making process. Our minds are conditioned to get bored and we feel excited to try something new. Does anyone remember local restaurants that are still popular with local folks who see their friends and neighbors and talk about the food and service and the help, like waitresses and busboys who also a part of the community?

No Sandy's that I remember in New Jersey and Chi-chis's (at least around here NJ) had a health scare/food poisoning. The best Mexican chain was Casa Gallardo (I believe out of St. Louis) but they never quite got in to high gear.

I remember most of these….I loved Bonanza Steakhouse, Sizzler, Ground Round, Burger Chef, Ponderosa,…all of these places were great…and affordable. A nice piece of meat, baked potato, salad,, etc…a full meal at a good price. I loved throwing peanut shells on the floor at Ground Round. So much fun.

I got my first Direct TV system at Radio Shack. I could have gotten the system that allowed 2 channels at once but I didn’t think it would be important. I bought speaker wires and coaxial cables, I bought a public address speaker to use with a CB radio, I got a huge outdoor antenna and rotor for my TV. Radio Shack had everything.

Remembered all of these restaurants - paid .15 cents for fries at Burger Chef in Cheltenham, Pa. in 1969. Grew up in the 50's-70s when we did not have school shootings, no road rage, police were respected, border was secure, and kids could play safely in their neighborhoods. Great times to grow up in America!
