Color depends heavily on the context and it is unfortunate that no one discusses the effect of illumination. Moreover, most of the artists [i.e. painters] don't do color mixing based on scientific principles e.g. the concept of color temperature is always wrong!

I just started painting at almost 70 years old and my instructor recommended your videos for color mixing. Your teaching approach is exceptional. I am sure you will become my virtual instructor. I remember in 8th grade I went to a pretty poor school and we didn’t have all the colors and the class was upset. Our art teach wasn’t even an art teacher I think it was a band teacher, but I had the luxury of going to a better funded school in elementary school, so I did learn about primary colors and complimentary colors a little bit then, but I prefer music. But I remember someone really wanting black and I told them you can just mix all the primary colors together and they didn’t believe me. I didn’t set it out all nice like you did in your video but I just squirted some red blue and yellow like youre supposed to and he thought it was witch craft 😂. I don’t even think I got paint that day because everyone asked me to make them some black and a few other colors that we were missing. I am trying to learn how to sketch and paint now because Im older now and I don’t have to beg a cry to learn new hobbies anymore like when I was a kid. I only started with 50 dollars worth of supplies but I think it is enough to learn. Worse case I hate it and I can pass whatever is left to my cousins or something, other worse case I like and now I have to spend more money on bigger bottles 😂😂😂. I am pretty good at shading but I just cant draw. Flat out. So, heres to new hobbies….

Teaching people (kids) that even SAYING the word “WHITE” it’s a bad thing!!! But saying “BLACK” is allowed and promoted! This is a BAD thing!

I love this video so much! Thank you for sharing your creative process. As an artist being productive is pretty difficult but coming up with ideas flow so fast its hard to choose which painting to start first. You breaking down your crearive process opens my eyes to new ways go seeing myself being productive. As a perfectionist my paintings are never done but instead of look for a perfect product I'm going to try to learn something new with every painting. Separate myself from my work and be able to see what I need to improve to create a painting I'm happy with. Being a perfectionist and an artsit is hard as I get burnt out after every project as I see all the problems. Instead of seeing all the flaws I'm going to write down something new I learned from creating a piece.
