Gerrit, after reinstalling the torsion bars, what did you do to retain them where the previous end cap would have kept them from sliding out?

I got a kit from 944 online, you can find your exact year and trim. the one i got i paid $17 per caliper rebuild kit, but it did not have teflon pads with it.

I’ll let you know when it comes in! The one I found was $40, is a tapered bushing. So you drill out the old taper in the spindle and press the new taper in the other way. Hoping it works! It’s coming all the way from Ukraine, so it will take a bit to get here.

yo, kind of a weird fad going on with this. Chassis on 944 not really rugged enough for true off roading

Same ecact type of torsion springs on Vw (since ~1968 IRS) There is pre-load angle and spring K-ratio, to raise car only really need to change preload angle, not make ride stiffer with higher k-spring

Hey thank you for making these videos ! I'm contemplating getting a 944 and maybe safari build it too and thanks to you I have some sort of reference for how to do it and what to expect. I see reading the description that this method of doing it is incorrect, props to you for uploading it anyway, trial and error is a huge part of this kind of projects and still very educational. Maybe just add another disclaimer as a popup on screen because most of us don't properly read descriptions lol. Anyway please continue and I wish you the best !

Hi there! I do not have a real good definitive answer to tire size. I have done some looking around online and come up with the following common sizes people are running. 225 70r15, 215 75 15, 205/70/15. I would recommend doing some more research on this and take some measurements. I will try to go over tire sizes when I get to that stage with my car, it might take a while before I get there. Hope this helps, and best of luck on your build!

@@Berkes944 Hi Jordan! I am running 205 50 R16 in the front and 225 50 R16 in the rear. The tires are Bridgestone Potenza S007A. They are a really nice sticky summer tire. Ive done one track day with them and about 5K road miles and they have been great!

@@84reliantk Ah yes I thought you might be running 16's. I'm still on the stock 15's and options are extremely limited. If I can ever find a clean set of 16" phone dials I'll probably get them. Thanks for the reply!

@@Berkes944 No problem! If I remember correctly when I had 15's on my 85.5 I was running 215 60 R15 on all 4 corners. I believe stock calls for a 205 in the front and a 225 in the rear if you're running a staggered set up. I ran the 215's on my staggered wheels, I do not remember what tires they were though, just an average tire if I remember.
