I'm pretty sure that the Maserati engine has a cross plane crank. The Ferrari version has a flat plane crank. Performance wise, it means nothing. But the sound the Ferrari makes is different. Flat plane cranks just sound more musical. The only reason to use the Maserati engine is because it has one less zero on the end of the price. But c'mon. Don't put Ferrari badges on Maseratis.
