Sincere question here; does "breakdown" have a certain meaning to fiddle players as it appears in so many titles of songs played primarily by them? If so what exactly does it mean?
@CharlieWalden7 сағат бұрын
Thanks for the question. First don't be led astray and call fiddle tunes "songs. Songs have lyrics. Our reels, breakdowns, and hoe-downs are "tunes". The word breakdown is just another name for those kind of tunes in 2/4 time suitable for square dancing. This would also include reels and hoe-downs. Check out Tunes@Noon LIVE most weekdays at Noon Central Thanks for watching!! kzbin.info1Jh_M2SzDLg?feature=share

A man named Eddie Henson here in Colorado who was from southern Indiana and played mandolin, fiddle and banjo played Hell On the Wabash.

I wonder if it's the same tune. I've heard that title ties to other tunes over the years. Thanks for the comment!
@fiddlejohn930517 сағат бұрын
@ yes, the first part was the same, the second part was almost the same but didn’t go down onto the G string. I should see if I can find an old cassette of him playing it. He passed in his mid eighties in the 1990s.

I can't play anywhere near as good as you... I hold my bow incorrectly (can't seem to work it when I hold it correctly)... I can play along with our church band on slow stuff and it sounds real Purdy! I also play mandolin, and it's helping my fiddle work. I been practicing along with an album entitled dreadful snakes,snakes alive album for about 8 years now and can FINALLY play along with most of that, blaine sprouse is the fiddler on that....anyhow i like your playing!

Thanks for you comments Steve. If you're ever available tune in live at Noon Central. I do it almost every weekday as a livestream. Blaine is an amazing fiddler and a good friend of mine.
