How long do you keep mama and babies separate, before they get to go to your nursery.

Fascinating. Thanks for sharing the details. My favorite section (as a viewer) was near the end when you had the camera on the ground and the sheep were running into the barn. Good luck with the rams.

Strange question: As I am just doing research for a fiction book that I am working on writing right now, I am curious as to why you put all the rams in one calf hut with square bales. It does not look like there is enough room for them to move around. Is it just due to the cold weather that we are having? Is it for some other reason? Not in any way judging just asking out of curiosity.

@@Korsvejgaard I missed it. Thanks for letting me know so I can go back and rewatch. Ok so it is just until they are done with figuring out the hierarchy.

We similarly do a small pen inside the barn for our rams when we combine them. Depending on the chemistry of the rams, it can be anywhere from half a day to a week before we give them a bigger pen again.

Hi Jenn, big process breaking down the breeding groups. Very thoughtful way of protecting the dominant rams from hurting each other. Hope all the ewes were successfully bred❤️

As a spinner I find this video soothing - even the sound of the card on the denim makes me to forget the dishes and go sit and spin! Haha! I don’t have a small hand carder but a small curved dog slicker brush. I use a soft piece of leather but it’s good to know that denim works just as well. That fleece looks so fine and beautiful.

How much do sheep like yours typically cost? I’m assuming your sheep are purebred ……i am going to have a setup at a fiber festival……i have rabbits i bring there too

I just recently decided i want to raise Shetland sheep. I dont have a lot of pasture but i live in a small village in Maine. I think they will be a great addition to our homestead. I raise purebred rabbits that i show and sell for various things. I belong to ARBA and i take really great care of them…….i want to learn as much as possible so i can make a good decision of what to look for etc.

Seems like someone should come up with a comprehensive database software that can hold all this info, including scans of the registration certificate etc. When my son was raising rabbits for show, we relied heavily on the pedigree software for breeding, but a database with all the kinds of info you keep on your spreadsheet would be fantastic! Learned a lot. Thanks.
