Went to this one, far too small that tent, many people got completely trampled on during the first songs. Amazing performance as always though.

They are scorching through this set. This is the Verve at their peak.

Early Verve was the best period for me. Basically most of the band's output that preceded Urban Hymns. Urban Hymns was too commercial for me. First knew about the band's existence watching quirky music show Rapido, presented by the wacky Frenchman, Antoine de Caunes, who later presented Eurotrash. Verve was interviewed and the video for All in the Mind was shown. It blew me away and I became an instant fan. I backpacked a lot during the 90's and liked to do mixtapes of my favourite tracks from my CD collection before leaving the UK. Naturally I had a lot of early Verve tracks on them. When I was staying and working in a backpackers in Auckland, New Zealand, word got around I had early Verve material on me. Around that time A Northern Soul was out but a lot of people hadn't heard the band's earlier material. So people asked me if they could hear it, which I happily obliged. They loved it. 😁

Was in the same form as Richard in Winstanley, By that point he looked like a full blown rock star and never seemed to drop that character since.😎 Pretty obvious he was just killing some time and not really focused on his A levels one bit. Was a nice bloke and quite down to earth as i remember.

I saw them about a week or so before this gig in Dublin at the SFX. This is exactly what they sounded like. The sound was ferocious and the band blew everyone away. McCabe was incredible! As were the whole band. The best gig I have ever attended. Love them - and I always will.

One of the best fucking live sets ever. They were it. Jonestown, Spiritualized, the Spacemen, even Oasis never got to this kind of peak. This is music.

There's a reason old Dick stole J. Spaceman's girlfriend. It's because he was fucking better.

Does anyone know like if they had a dedicated echo/reverb unit for Richard's vocals? When we were touring in the 2010's we'd always just request the sound guy, "turn the reverb all the way up" and it'd often be a fiasco. It'd be neat if there was a channel on the delay where Nick and Dick were like sharing an echo so it blends and shit. Anyway. Long live the Verve. Greatest fucking band ever.
@KaiWatsonАй бұрын
It's like I go back in time and Nick somehow is playing Theremin and guitar at the same time. It's like the Twilight Zone or some shit. Rock n' roll!

amazing recording quality. This is really great sound! I`m a big fan of RHCP with life concerts, and understand how a lot of reverb and delay in case of Verve make playing easier and sounds 'bigger', but OMG I`m impressed how Verve played life, wow maybe a sometimes i more like it than RHCP shows. IMO.

😍✌🙌 Whoa thanks, what a treat. For years I have been fascinated with this early version of The Sun, The Sea. I wonder why the song turned out so different on A Storm in Heaven.
