Yeah spark arrestor could cause it. Or the actual exhaust port. The worst case scenario is you've got a bad piston in a cracked ring. Typically is just like any other engine it's fuel spark and oxygen. So if it's not getting enough oxygen it may not start or if it can't expel gases it may not start

No I live in the mountains and we have a short growing season period so you end up storing your line trimmer for almost half a year. And it doesn't matter if you dump the old gas is still going to come up the carburetor. So it's easier to replace a carburetor for 15.00 that is to replace the almost $400 line trimmer. Get a grip buddy

Well I'm not going to let them go out of their fenced-in yard to chase a bear. They barked at the bear when it came to the fence and was trying to climb over the fence and that scared it away so yes they chased it away. Add several months ago the small dog attacked that same bear when it was in the yard and injured it and sent it running.

These dogs were trained early not to climb or jump the fence. We also have an electric wire on the top edge.

I've had the Boerboel for 12 years studied them for 15 years. This is as close to what the founders of the breed wanted that I could get and reproduce. I only have the brindle left his son and mate passed away the last 2 years ago. I adopted another female and she is doing well. The Brindle comes from original South African stock Mizpah and Linjo blood. He was born in South Africa "Authentic Mizpah Odinson-Thor" It does not get any closer to true form than that.

Actually that bear came into my yard and my small young female Boerboel @125LB attacked the bear and chased it out of our yard. Most bears are smart and know any injury can prevent them from hunting and could mean a slow death.

Black Bears are pretty timid. A full size Livestock Guardian Dog can successfully repel a black bear the majority of the time, because they don't want the smoke. Granted if the bear is actually starving, it will eat the dog. But better the dog than you or your children.

@kilouno1963 I wouldn't want my dog to be hurt either, hon. But that is the whole purpose of an LGD, to put itself in harm's way between it's pack (be that it's humans or its flock) and predators. You buy the dog to be an extra layer of security. Ideally, it scares the predators away, which happens the majority of the time. But when push comes to shove the dog will do its duty and we either have a wounded friend to care for or a lost loved one to mourn. It's just the way it is. Obviously scale your LGD pack to your predators pressure. If it's just coyotes and the occasional nosy blackbear, then one is all you need unless you have a ton of animals to protect. If you produce enough surplus food then by all means have an extra LGD, but if someone doesn't then you can't impose that on them when their conditions don't require it. Lastly... your good Boi isn't an lgd breed AFAIK. Just a strong companion breed with guard dog attributes. Please correct me if I am mistaken

The big fawn male one is Crusher (205lb) the brindle is Odie or Odinson-Thor (170lb) and a female fawn is Jade (135lb). Unfortunately Crusher have and Jade have passed away this last two years. I still have Odie

It's just the easiest and fastest way to take care of it. I bloodied my hand trying to start mine. Then just said EFF it. Replace carb and back to work.

I've put a new carburetor on mine, and it still won't start up. It has a spark going to the plug. Of course, the unit is turned on, but still nothing.
