For Mega-Donks I used to sample a combo of my TX81Z, and the Bi-Timbral DX21. Using the TX81Z I'd record a single donky F note in my DAW (maybe a few really low volume, less noticeable unison F donks) using midi on the lowest possibe octave. I'd then record a higher perfect 5th on the DX21 using one patch, and a lower perfect 4th using a different patch in my DAW. I'd keep the DX21 volume about half the level or so of the TX81Z, so it sounds harmonious, but not too obviously powerchordy sounding. I'd then play these 3 Midi notes back and sample it at a grimy sounding 22.05kHz, default note Middle C into my E-mu esi32 sampler. From there I can assign the mod/pitch wheel, velocity etc to stuff like the sample start, filters, LFO, ADSR, Pan etc. It sounds pretty good, a little bit more refined Donking! 😀lol.
