4:57 I did install a new rotary valve. This was possibly the main cause of the piston failure. I forgot to comment on that in the video. Look for a future video on the topic of these fiber rotary valves used on some models.
@HondasRbest15 күн бұрын
did you replace the rotary valve ? It looked a bit chewed up.
@thejunkman5 күн бұрын
Haha! Yes, that was ultimately probably the reason the piston had failed. You just pointed out that I totally left out the 3 second shot installing it, but it is there at 4:57 and the explanation that I had to source a new one. However I will be covering it in a separate video, because I have some thoughts about these particular models that use the fiber rotary valves.
@HondasRbest15 күн бұрын
@@thejunkman I had a G4TR Trail Boss. My friend had a F7 175 CC. He learned to modify the intake timing by cutting away the leading edge of the fibre disc valve.
@thejunkman5 күн бұрын
I have a 1970 G4TR (as seen in the previous video) running. I also have the rotary valve modification specifications for various models on my website. I have a mildly modified MC1M that I have covered in the past here on KZbin and my website. It basically uses the same engine.

My brother in law had a brand new 1974 model, I was 7 years old and riding on that bike with him cemented a life long love of motorcycles. It was all I talked about, all I thought about, all I dreamed about. At 9 years old my father presented me with a new Honda CT70. I went on to race amateur motocross from 1978-1990, I also competed in observed trials, road raced and did a lot of enduro/cross-country/GP races. All through that time, my brother in law held onto that old Kawasaki f-11 250 the entire time. Sadly, in 1995, his only son was killed riding it in a freak, head on collision with a medically impaired driver. That was my nephew Robbie…, we both drew our love of bikes from his father’s F-11. It’s a bittersweet memory for me, seeing and hearing one of these bikes, but mostly good.

I assume it’s actually 4WD, and not front-wheel drive.
@thejunkman13 күн бұрын
No, it is a FWD as in the Four Wheel Drive Auto Company aka. The Badger Four Wheel Drive Auto Company. This truck was made before they changed the name to FWD Corporation. They invented the first four wheel drive car in 1909. I believe they still operate, but under the American LaFrance brand. FWD as seen here pretty much became defunct in around 2003.

It appears that the elevation chart is reverses as well. ( + ) indicates going below sea level, the ( - ) indicates increase in elevation.
@mofosheee0122 күн бұрын
Hello Mr Thejunkman I am unsure how to use the pocket calculator (5:53 mins at video) I'm at 7500' elevation. Suppose one had a 240 main jet @ sea level. That person moved to a + 7500' elevation. Using the calculator to make a correction, they line up 240 with 7500' elevation and pick a main jet size of 290(ish) Seems correct to me to go to the ( - ) negative direction. I thank you for your vids.

Hi, this may be a long shot. But everything works on my seat except the forward and back function. The recline works and I'm able to move the seat up and down. The up and down and forward/back uses the same switch. Ive also check under the seat and nothing is lodged under the seat. From your experience, what do you think the isdue may be?

Why? These cars never came with Dexcool. Dexcool wasn't a "thing" until the late 90's. Besides I have done regular flushes using standard coolant.

What is your analysis as to why the piston skirt is broken?
@jenntek.101Ай бұрын
Good luck with the front sprocket on those. I hope its in decent shape. Unless you know a work around. Isn't this the 10-speed bike? (The G4TR) I love the G3SS. I picked up the exact same bike two years ago. The float had a hole in it... I added a touch of solder (Never overload it, it will be too heavy), and Its been running like a top ever since.
@thejunkmanАй бұрын
Yes the G4TR is the hi/lo range on the output. Sprocket Specialists can make a sprocket if I need one.

Must use the oil injection pump. It feeds oil in at disc valve. Premix fuel will cause disc to go bad, no lubrication
@thejunkmanАй бұрын
Correct. However, it appears the injection pump was being used as the oil like is/was full and there was oil dripping out of it. Seeing what looked like premix in the carb as well was odd to me.
@captainaxle438Ай бұрын
@thejunkman yeah when I was a kid, 1979, a neighbor had a kz100 that did not run and he let me take it and I cleaned up the carb and fixed other things and blocked off the oil pump and pre-mixed it and it was running and it was a beast. Later after he got it back, broke down and he's telling me a story about how the dealer told him it ruined the disc. Wanted me to pay him the $160 repair
@thejunkmanАй бұрын
Part of the issue is these early 90-100cc bikes used a fiber disc while the larger displacements used a metal one. After 1975 Kawasaki switched to all metal on all of these bikes.
@captainaxle438Ай бұрын
@thejunkman interesting design. Really powerful. Those were the days
@doctordirk6316Ай бұрын
Don't forget to remove and clean the fuel 'emulsion tube' underneath the main jet and it's brass washer. I use the pointed end of a wooden pencil and gently tap the tube out with the carb upside down on the bench. A lot of dirt and gunge can build up in there over time.

My first bike was a new Kawasaki G5 enduro bought in 1975. It's top speed was only 45 mph. There was something wrong with the bike. I had it for a year and put about 12,000 miles on it. It got me around even though the bike was shi*.
