I actually have a lot of nostalgia linked to this place. Can't remember for the life of me why I was there so damn much but I spent a lot of time here both in a group and solo. I remember listening to the Nine Inch Nails album: The Fragile that my then girlfriend(now wife) gifted me while trying to map put these damn halls.. I spent so long trying to understand the layout that I was really peeved when they nerfed it to be super simple because I had turned myself into a guide for the place haha.

My absolute favourite location in WoW. The mountain is so iconic and hides so many mysteries! I really hope you may perhaps come back one day to do the rest of this amazing zone. Love your stuff!

You say near the end that the horde of lesser undead pour in from the earlier parts of the city. Not exactly. If you go into the gate they come out of, on the side of Slaughter Square, you'll find a green raid portal around the corner. One that looks like it would lead you in to even more of the city, but doesn't allow passage. I'm guessing that early in Stratholme's development, Blizzard had intended to have the Naxxramas raid portal at the end of the Stratholme dungeon, just like how the Molten Core raid has its raid portal at the end of the Blackrock Depths dungeon. It seems raid parties were originally expected to fight their way to the actual raid, with certain dungeons (setting-wise) being the vanguard shell around the more core evil force (the Dark Iron dwarves of BRD enslaved by the fire elementals of MC, the undead citizens of Stratholme forming a buffer for the Scourge's leadership, champions, and top-of-the-line constructs in Naxxramas, and a potential Mount Hyjal raid behind the canyon of elite demons in classic.). A comparative rabble of stronger minions to keep away outside rabble, protecting the higher-ups from being pestered by all but the most serious threats as they plot world domination. A dynamic present inside each dungeon between their minions and bosses, and between dungeons and raids as a kind of super-dungeon.

Another example: the raid portal for Blackwing Lair, located in Upper Blackrock Spire, with the Dark Horde serving as a buffer for Nefarian and his black dragons.

John staats the designer of brd mentioned in an interview there was going to be another dungeon behind the gate of baelgar. However brd already had too much going on that they decided to scrap the idea

Thanks so much for this series, I've enjoyed it so much! My partner and I have been running all of the old instances that we never properly understood the lore for, and your videos have been our tour guide along the way. I hope you get inspire to post the second BRD part, but even if you don't, thanks for the hard work you've done on these.

I am infinitely grateful that someone is doing videos about the visual story telling in WoW. This game is so chock full of delicious flavourful details that tend to fall by the wayside when you're actually in game. You honour this great work with your analysis

The cannon was kind of glossed over as far as what it was vs what it is now. The cannon used to be a way to get past a locked door. You had to find the powder to use it and it let you advance into the dungeon after you destroyed the door. Now it's a trap! You use the cannon which now fires a blank and the doors open to reveal an ambush. Great mechanic that kind was glossed over.
