From what I’ve heard, Operation splint was training by American troops. They used Pentewan beach to practice opening up a bridge head and clearing a way up the beach to bring in cargo and supplies and to evacuate casualties of the beach. John’s pumping house great choice for drone video👍. Built for 2nd hand 70 inch engine 1861. Worked till 1864 Then moved to wheal uny redruth. Wheal ellen in the valley bottom, built for a 70 inch pumping engine that was never installed. Talk of it being converted into a Dwelling, not heard much lately.

@@captaincornishadventures I like your thought about conversion to a dwelling. If I have found the right information, only 200 of the once 3000 engine houses in Cornwall and West Devon are still standing and if these are to survive, standing for future generations to admire, they have to be converted for a modern use (it is unrealistic to keep repairing uncovered walls indefinitely on more than a few).
