For me it worked. However, after I entered "select partition 4", (for my PC port is was disk 4), it then stated, "there is no partition selected". I just continued with "enter", then, "format fs=ntfs". Then the process began, fulfilling to 100%. Just make sure you have the correct USB disk#. My suggestion is to remove any other thumb drive(s) you may have in your device. The disk that shows the corresponding GB or MB (storage space) on your empty drive, that's the disk you select, and go from there. I hope this helped someone.

Just wanted others to know that, none of this worked for me, my issue was that my micro-sd was in a sd-adapter and then put into a sd card reader, when I plugged in only the micro sd, it worked immediatly.

in my case i just went to disk management and format the usb worked for me

Did not work. every command in diskpart gave an error including "clean" and " create partition". i SOLVED it by trying my old win 7 desktop. just inserting the drive gave me the usual "disk needs formatting" window. I just pressed format and it was SUCCESSFUL.🤯

it would not allow to format because of the error: the media is write protected. i tried the attributes disk clear readonly but it did not work. how should i fix this?
