You are holding it backwards. It's trying to flip over when you throw it. Turn it around with the curved part facing the direction you want to throw. The bottom should be flat and the top convex a little. The aerodynamics will make it fly. I've seen guys throw these things over a 100 yards. Good luck.

Thanks for the video! I use the same intro music for my outro. It’s a good one! I used to be a great shot with throwing sticks when I was a young teenager! They’re pretty great. I always just used a stick. I learned about it from an old man who’s farm I worked on. He and his brothers grew up in the depression and just kind of did whatever they had to do to put food on the table. They shined for fish and deer, trapped, hunted with throwing sticks, caught squirrels and birds with fish hooks. Lots of stuff that would land you in jail today, but when you’re hungry..
