I watch West Wing clips for hours every few months ... there will never ever be a better show. I still find the one single flaw they had as demonstrated in this clip... a native New Hampshire resident would never pronounce "Concord" the way he pronounces it - "Con-chord". We pronounce it "Con-kerd."

Alas, the idea of a caring boss comforting an employee who had undergone a serious family loss and taking time out to be with them despite considerable obligations… is like the idea of the Concord and Lexington militia standing up and risking their lives for a cause far greater than themselves… this would prove much more a dream than a reality.

I just adore the relationship between Josh and Sam. It's everything I've ever wanted in a friendship.

Andrew Jackson didn't give away that for altruism, the cheese was in the White House for a year and his term was coming to an end and he would have to take that thing to his house because it was a personal gift, so he just decided to give it away

The “I was in the House…I know nothing about Senate rules”…is undoubtedly one of the worst and dumbest lines ever in the show. Everyone in the DC Beltway over the age of 35 had seen “Mr. Smith Goes To Washington”…and there is zero chance that anyone in the roles they are playing wouldn’t. Let alone “Nobel Laureate Know-It-All” Jed Bartlett… It was absurd!

What's absurd is that you think Bartlet get his knowledge from movies.

Sorkin at his proselytizing best--or worse: "Liberal ideology requires us all to act (in our capacity as citizens) as if we were blind to the true value of the most important social realities and institutions: the two-parent household, the unique mother-child bond, lifelong marital fidelity, and divine worship."--Daniel E. Burns is associate professor of politics at the University of Dallas.

Sorkin did not write this. Sorkin left the show left the show after season 4. This was in season 7.

Every senator, even Tuberville the Moroon knows the filibuster rules, including yielding for a question. Also, the Senate's presiding office is addressed as Mr. President (not Mr. Chairman). The question thing was to build drama, but getting the title wrong was just sloppy. However, Donna was her hand was cute.

The best part of this episode is how they have the voices of narration overlap each other, as a means of demonstrating how it takes more than one person to ever get anything done. I know most people probably don't even notice, but it does effect how you feel as you watch. One person does one thing that rolls into another person doing another thing, and so on, and the voice-overs roll one over to the next over to the next, never just cutting to a new voice but always having them say a few words together before moving on. This is how our democracy is supposed to work: a group of people work together for the common good of all. Unfortunately, we seem to have lost that understanding these days.
