This is SO AWESOME!! I just got into paddle boarding over the summer and I love it! I've paddled all around my local spots, but as with mountain biking and kayaking, I've been wanting to plan more destination trips to branch out and see more. I would love to also SUP places like this with all those waterfalls - I'm definitely adding this place to my must-do list! Thanks for sharing your adventures!!

We hiked Mt. Lyn Lowry up to the cross in July. I’m wondering how the area faired in the flooding? How about Waynesville and Sylva?
@im_always_adventuring26 күн бұрын
I'm not sure about that Waterrock Knob/Mount Lyn Lowry area, since the Parkway's been closed I haven't seen too much about how it's doing. I believe both Waynesville and Sylva were hit relatively hard unfortunately.

Back in the mid 1980s I went fly fishing on Hazel Creek with friends, hiking miles up along it. On the 3rd day I walked back to Proctor to meet some other fisherman who were going to join us so I could lead them back to where the rest of us were camped. While waiting for them to arrive, a forest service pontoon boat pulled up with a couple in their mid 50's and one in their 80's. The older couple were the parents of the younger woman and had lived in Proctor before it was flooded. The older lady took me on a short walk around and pointed out things you'd never notice on your own. Such as where the town's baseball field had been. She pointed out how all the trees where the field once was were much smaller in diameter then the rest of the woods, obviously because there hadn't been any trees when they played ball there. She pointed out where the first base dugout had been, and said that's where her husband had proposed to her. :-) It was obviously a very memorable time for me!

Perhaps when you review a paddle board, you should know how to correctly use the paddle. You are using it with the blade backwards the entire time. Otherwise, your review was fairly thoughtful. It might have been worthwhile to mention the lifetime warranty to the original owner.
@im_always_adventuring6 ай бұрын
"The blade should angle forward slightly from the shaft, toward the nose of the board." Glad you enjoyed the rest of the review!
@zootie82926 ай бұрын
@@im_always_adventuring yes, the quote is correct. However, you have the edge of the blade angled aft, toward the stern, which is backwards. The angle referenced is the blade-shaft angle, not the slight curve at the tip of the blade. If you still don’t believe me, send your video to Kokopelli and ask them. You were using the paddle backwards the entire video.
@im_always_adventuring6 ай бұрын
You are correct, I apologize. I originally started using the paddle the way you describe but someone on one of my earlier videos told me (rather rudely) that I was using the paddle wrong then too. 🤷🏼♀️
@zootie82926 ай бұрын
@@im_always_adventuring no apology needed. I believe that you otherwise made a very helpful review, to the point that I realized that the Kokopelli board was likely not going to work for me, as I frequently have to deal with wake on the lake where I paddle. I can tell an inexperienced paddler from a distance, as they often use the paddle backwards. If you don’t understand proper technique, having the blade angled forward is counterintuitive. Paddle on in good health!
