Mountain Biking, Paddle Boarding, and Waterfalls: Solo Camping in South Carolina

This summer I went solo car camping in South Carolina, mainly so I could spend some long days paddle boarding on Lake Jocassee. On my way south I stopped to mountain bike at Dupont State Forest and had an absolute blast on Ridgeline, before stopping to see Hooker Falls and Triple Falls. I camped at a tent site at Keowee-Toxaway State Park (which is cheaper than nearby Devil's Fork State Park). I spent two days paddling on Lake Jocassee, which has only been in existence since 1973. In total, I paddled just over 28 miles, and saw many cool waterfalls. Yet I still only managed to scrape the surface of what there is to explore here. I ended the camping trip with a short hike to Twin Falls in South Carolina to check off another waterfall on the Carolina Mountain Club's Waterfall Challenge.

This is SO AWESOME!! I just got into paddle boarding over the summer and I love it! I've paddled all around my local spots, but as with mountain biking and kayaking, I've been wanting to plan more destination trips to branch out and see more.
