Any idea how to fix mine with no audio? I have two, one is stuck on the loading screen, another plays just fine without audio, even when adjusting the side. Any idea how to fix this at the home?

You may want to check if one of the cables to the speaker is loose or any of the ribbon connections. Does the audio work when plugged into headphones?

@devhackmod…I am a mini system collector. I have a slightly newer model which is MX-C77. JVC’s were good but looks like they incorporated tiny subwoofer in their labyrinth speaker system, they wouldn’t handle bass very well even at a slightly higher volume unless you tweak “Twin Bass”. Have you ever tried replacing the tiny subwoofer inside? ….As I have at least 11 systems in my current collection, I can say that nothing compares to Sony MHC-P909 it’s a model at a different level. Sony’s are more natural sounding, handles bass very well and would not distort even at high volume and the features they have are timeless. I have a few Aiwa’s too, Aiwa’s are very loud, perhaps louder than, Sony, Panasonic, JVC’s…however they don’t offer deep and heavy bass but if you want to enjoy surround sound, perhaps Aiwa was the finest exponent in offer DSP Surround driven by Disco, Live and Hall settings, they have amazing surround sound.

Thanks for the great review on various systems. I'm lucky to have found and saved this JVC system from the trash, it's the only one in my collection as I never bought any at the time they were most popular. So I don't have anything to compare it to. I do have a set of large speakers also found on the curb trash in perfect condition (in fact they were wrapped in saran wrap so I'm not sure what was going on) which are L/R pair and a center speaker (JM Lab Chorus 715 pair and CC 700). I also found a Samsung subwoofer but never got it to work.

They make pretty good copies these days. Unfortunately my copy was so cheap that it was really simplified, many of the dials were just glued on (didn't actually work) and the strap was cheap and the whole thing just wasn't very functional. Still fun to wear on occasion but that's what $9 gets you! LOL😀

I have an 5 row accordion just started practising. How does it differ from the 6 row?
@devhackmod
@devhackmod 2 күн бұрын
Congratulations on starting your accordion journey! A 6-column has the diminished chords. The 5 columns you have are probably: 1. counterbass, 2. root bass, 3. major, 4. minor, and 5. 7th chords. The 6th is diminished. It is not used that often but there are some circumstances where I do reach for it to make some interesting chords (often for jazz). What's good to have is extended upper/lower ends of the bass system. For example, there are only 12 notes in a scale. So technically to get all possible combinations you only need 12 rows x 6 columns = 72. But my accordion has 120 buttons, which means 20 rows x 6 columns! The reason is that at the top and bottom ends of the bass buttons are repeated. I get another 4 rows (repeating the bottom) at the top, and another 4 rows (repeating the top) at the bottom, hence another 8 rows that are interlinked mechanically so they are actually doing the same thing (you'll see other buttons press down at the same time). This is to allow you to play in different keys near the top or bottom range of your scales without having to "jump" awkwardly down or up when you are near the end of the bass system. Have fun, it's a fantastic instrument!

I have one of these too and i kinda like it. Especially the recording feature which is pretty neat and it actually not that bad in the highest quality mode. Over here in Scandinavia the AM-band is pretty useless as there's next to nothing to recieve anymore, the SW picks up some random stuff but the auto search is a bit annoying as it probably skips a lot of weak signals. I'll definitely look closer to that shield modding you mentioned, it sounds like a good idea. Over all a cheap and fun radio to play around with and it really shines on FM in urban areas, that's for sure.

I'm enjoying this radio so far. I have used the auto-scan feature on both my Tecsun PL-310ET and this V115 and both seem to find about the same stations (using a 30-40 ft long-wire clipped to the antenna). The difference is my Tecsun can scan the entire range in 5 minutes whereas the V115 takes about 15 minutes! But after the initial scan I am getting about the same reception, although Tecsun lets me fine-tune to 1 kHz steps and go up/down easily, but V115 only does 5 kHz steps and I have to manually type it each time. But for the price you can't beat the V115.

Definitely prefer the aa or AAA models, especially great paired with a NIMH cell. I bet this one would pair well with an average e-cig mini battery. The protection should be on the board, likely part of that chip, if you look up the spec
@devhackmod
@devhackmod 10 күн бұрын
It is worth attaching a cheap throw-away e-cig battery and seeing what happens, even though they don't have any built-in battery management system. I have not tried running it at 3.0V which would be 2xAA or 2xAAA, although that may be enough to power the device (rather than 3.7V LiIon pack). That's another option to try. I would be afraid to put 4.5V as it may be over-voltage and burn out the circuit. However, NiMH cells are typically 1.2V output so 3xAA or 3xAAA NiMH pack may actually be just about right at 3.6V to let it run fine. I'll have to try that out.

I got something like this on eBay about 4 years ago, Menu looks the same. Mine however is basically a USB stick that has an SD card slot (also only allows up to 32GB), instead of a rechargeable battery it's powered by a single AA battery (lasts awhile, maybe like 6 hours at moderate volume), I paid about $3 for it. I still use it from time to time when I want to put the smart phone away.
@devhackmod
@devhackmod 10 күн бұрын
That is cool, and it runs off a single AA too! I assume there is a step-up transformer in there to power the chips which are probably designed to run at a bit higher voltage. PL-330 in my area is $165 Canadian. I got my PL-310ET a few years back for about $65. There is nothing even close to $100 CAN that has SSB. The only options with SSB are one of those ATS-20 Si4732, ATS-25 and ATS-100 receivers but I don't know which are reliable, which are copies as the price is all over the place.

I see the PL-330 at US$64 on Anon Co. That's CA$92 plus shipping, it may come close to 100 indeed, but not much more. I have both the ATS-20+ and ATS-25 and they're quite capable receivers. The ATS-20+ has some quirks and really needs a firmware upgrade with the open-source Anshante firmware. I find you a bit unfair to this radio. You can't compare a sub-20$/€ radio to a higher end Tecsun or Xhdata. For its price, I really find this radio a real bargain. Agreed, it might not be the best SW receiver on Earth, but with the help of a long wire antenna I've had quite decent results with it, on par with more expensive receivers. Using a long wire did solve the problem of the internally generated noise for me. The 5 kHz step on SW is no problem as long as you don't do SSB, which this radio doesn't have anyway. It has one of the best loudspeakers I've found in such a small radio, with deep bass and clear sound. It's also packed with interesting features, especially the ability to record audio from internal or external sources, including a line in port. A rare feature, very handy to record catches done with this radio or another. one you connect to it with a 3.5mm jack cable. That's one of the reasons why the V115 always is in my bag of radios when I go SWL.
@devhackmod
@devhackmod 13 күн бұрын
True, the Retekess V115 is a really great bargain! And in my later video (comparing SW reception to my Tecsun) it actually did quite well! I was surprised by the performance and extra features like SD Card record/playback, rechargeable battery and mic! When I connect it to my laptop, the USB not only works as an SD Card reader but also registers the microphone AND the speaker on the radio as audio devices! So I use the radio's microphone to record audio to my laptop rather than using the terrible built-in microphone in my laptop screen. It's great! It's almost like they plan on making little to no money on the V115 so that people buy the more expensive Retekess radios!
@ultrasoundguy1
@ultrasoundguy1 15 күн бұрын
It's a great radio for the price, but on the one I bought recently the AGC jumps around on moderate or above signal strength signals on SW making it essentially unusable. Older units I've seen on YT seem not to have this problem, so my guess is that a recent software modification has a bug.
@devhackmod
@devhackmod 13 күн бұрын
In my follow-up video comparing the V115 to my Tecsun I did notice that it mutes some of the stronger stations once I connect up the antenna, attenuating the signal automatically. However, it was usable and compared favourably to my Tecsun when connecting to a long-wire antenna and using the automatic channel scanning feature on both radios, they performed similarly!
@ultrasoundguy1
@ultrasoundguy1 13 күн бұрын
@@devhackmod It's certainly possible that I simply got a defective unit. Using a signal generator a few feet away with a clip lead as an antenna, the receiver was OK until I got to a moderate amplitude, at which point the AGC would become erratic. It seemed like the best explanation was a software bug that would affect all units, but since yours doesn't exhibit the same problem it must just be a one-off bug. Lucky me. :)

Yes you are correct. The radio only allows 5 kHz steps which by default should pick up all the regular stations if they are broadcasting correctly. I will miss some of the stations in between but most of those are HAM or other transmissions typically using SSB which I can't decode anyways. Interestingly when I do the automatic scanning memory feature on my Tecsun it also jumps by 5 kHz steps (or at least that's what it shows) so I'm not sure if that's just to save time scanning or save on display refresh. Either way, the Tecsun takes about 4 minutes to scan from about 2300 kHz up through about 21950 kHz whereas the Retekess V115 takes almost 15 minutes for a shorter 4750 kHz to 21850 kHz range.

I also received China Radio intl in Russian on sw,Radio Taiwan intl on sw in Russian,KBS in Russian on sw band from S.Korea,Voice of North Korea in Russian on sw,NHK from Japan in Russian on MW or AM in the evening,Radio Rumania intl in Ukrainean on sw,voice of Vietnam on sw in Russian,Radio Vatican on sw in Russian,Ukrainean and Belarussian ,radio Voice of Turkey on sw band in Russian language,and even Radio New Zealand in English on sw 13755 khz! I receive all these stations here in Belarus on sw,with the help of the radio Retekess V 115,with digital display,like your radio receiver. I am amazed that you cannot receive any sw stations in your region of the World! On medium wave i received radio stations from Hungary and Rumania and some other stations. I also received NHK in Russian on AM in the evening. On AM i received stations from Hungary and Rumania even at day time ,but only in winter. On AM i could not receive any stations at day time in summer. But on sw i can receive stations even at day time from China both in summer and in wintern. I received radio exterior de espana in russian in belarus in the late evening on sw,also,from Madrid. From Latin America i could receive only Radio Argentina at 12.10 or at 12.20 utc may be in italian language only on monday via WRMI on sw 15770 khz. On other days WRMI does not relay Radio Argentina RAE on sw to Europe,unfortunately. May be you do not know how to search for sw,AM radio stations,so that is a reason why you cannot receive sw radio stations? You need to know at what times and in what frequencies those foreign sw stations broadcast in sw band. Promise me that you will not open the back lid of your radio and you will not break the radio! Just keep trying to search for sw radio stations and may be you will be lucky and you will find radio stations.

Good job! The entire tank rental industry is a scam. You pay many times more over time than it is worth. If you have a service company available in your area you can always call them if there is a problem, but these tanks rarely have issues. You can also have a company inspect and drain your tank annually (replace the anode rod inside, get rid of mineral deposits). You can also pay a fee to subscribe to one of these independent service companies if you are really worried, it will still cost you less than the monthly rentals.

Usually you unscrew the hose from where it attaches under the sink and remove the weight, and then you just pull the sprayer along with the hose out of the faucet.

New "old stock"? Not sure but they are for sale and it could be either updated or perhaps the store still had some sitting in inventory and needed to get rid of them.

I listen to mine every night as I fall asleep, picking up lots of signals from far away using a long-wire antenna. It's great! I wish it had SSB but that feature in the next model up would have cost about double this radio! So for my first dive into shortwave listening this is very budget friendly and performs well!

Thanks for watching and happy that you learned how to use it! If you are worried about a mess then yes, shower is a good idea, and also you can easily refill it in there because it will probably run out of water a few times to get through all the teeth!

Interesting, I have the same I believe, a complete vertical fracture. I found this: "In a literature review, the treatment of complete vertical root fracture is the extraction of the tooth followed by dental prosthesis or implant or joining the separated fragments by different types of bonding system, laser or bioceramic cements, and reimplantation with a good success rate." Question: According to this (you can google the text to find the link, I'm not allowed to post links here) it is possible to extract the tooth, bond it and reimplant it. Why do don't you attempt this? Do you know any dentists in Europe that is willing to attempt this? Thanks!
@devhackmod
@devhackmod Ай бұрын
Not worth the risk, it has a poor success rate. It may be possible in research studies as a "proof of concept" but in reality if you attempt this on a large number of patients it has a high failure rate, with infection and other difficulties just not worth it. I'm not sure where you got that Google search result but I promise you the success rate it nowhere as high as implants. Even after "bonding" a broken tooth you would need to ensure the entire root-canal system is disinfected and sealed inside (so you need to do root-canal treatment on the tooth while it is outside the mouth after you've bonded it together). After reimplanting you need to splint the tooth in place for some time to ensure that it is stable (bonding it to adjacent teeth) and if there is any damage to the periodontal ligament in the process you can end up with root resorption. This is a lot of work, time and therefore cost for a questionable success rate. By far the most successful option is to extract, bone graft the socket, allow it to heal and place an implant.

You think that's bad. I bought an RCA Voyager III in the UK that in comparison, yours are at least vaguely useable. I paid £19 for it, brand new, in box. I knew it'd suck harder than a lady of the night, but even I was surprised just how awful it truly is. Unlike yours, mine 'features' an Intel Atom CPU. This is the sole reason I bought it. X86 in tablet form?, Ubuntu a possibility? Battery life, from new, was less than an hour. Given the tiny battery, I'm not surprised. Screen response under Android to touch or swipe?, think at least a second and you'd be being kind to it. Open a menu?, two seconds. Launch VLC to stream some tunes?, over a minute to launch followed by 30 seconds to open the DLNA connection. Bluetooth audio you ask?, why yes, it'd connect to a soundbar, providing the soundbar is within 2ft. Glorious mono with the sbc ( suck balls completely ) protocol. Decoding FLAC?, bwahaha. Decoding MP3?, yes, it'd do that, but FLAC had dropouts. KZbin? Nope. Wifi?, within 6ft of the access point. E-Reader?, it's 7" screen causes eye fatigue. If you ever happen across the Atom powered, 7" screen variant of the Voyager III, pass it by. As for Ubuntu, well, I got it to boot to a shell and the on-screen keyboard and wifi worked-ish, but it was too slow to use. I watched your video out of curiosity. Your Arm variant kicks my Atom into the weeds! I found this sorry e-waste in my spares box today and wondered if anyone had ever managed to do anything with one. I'm ever the optimist 🙂 I have an original Pi Model B that perform so much better, it's not even funny. That runs RISC/OS, Raspbian and even an old version of Android. My RCA?, not even the battery is worth salvaging. Good luck with your adventures.

I enjoyed reading your summary of the Atom CPU powered version of the RCA Voyager III. I thought mine sucked but reading through your experience made me realize there is no low to how crappy some companies can make their products for the sake of cheapening the price. I'm glad you got Ubuntu on there... that's on my main work-horse, a 12 year old ASUS K56CA and still going strong!

Thank you for this video. I have the exact same issue with my unit (WP-150W) We had hardly used it- only a few times before it died. I got into it and my first suspicion was the obviously overheated resistor. Wasn’t able to confidently read the color code on it because of the discoloration. Had no idea about the thermal fuse until watching your video. Just checked the thermal fuse and it is indeed broken inside as I have no continuity. Thanks again!
@devhackmod
@devhackmod 2 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching! Good luck fixing it. These thermal fuses are cheap, you can buy a 10 pack for almost nothing, just use the same fuse spec rating and you have a lifetime supply in case it dies again (which it will).

I just called and care. The tank was put in in 2018 and they want $3600 to cancel the contract. What a scan.
@devhackmod
@devhackmod 2 ай бұрын
Yeah that is too much. I would look at their "buyout" table which lists the model of tank, and the years in service... there should be a decreasing value for buyout depending on how old it is. The older the tank the less it costs to buy it out. I would not take $3600 at face value... whoever you got on the phone just made up some number probably to make you give up. There should be a chart from your utility and/or tank rental company to find the exact amount depending on tank model and age. Let me know what you find out!
