Hi Gary, what a nice little guitar for Santa to bring to an aspiring young rock star. My first electric guitar was a make called "Zenta". It had one pickup that looked a bit like a P90 over at the neck side of things. It cost my Dad £14.50 back at Christmas 1972. That seems like a good deal, but if you use an inflation converter these days it would be about £170. I loved that guitar but just think what you can get these days for that kind of money.

What a fine viable little instrument. I wonder how many kids are put off by guitars not set up properly. I look forward to the next review. Will now turn my old Bert Weedon LP over!

I’m a luthier I’ve converted over 25 Variax conversions using mostly 300s and 500s the on,y difference between all 4 are the 600 and 700 have tremolos, the 300/600 electronics are identicle, the 500/70- are also identicle except for tremolo. That’s why I only used one 600 and zero 700s because of the huge cost differences over the tremolo. I actually built all my own tremolos. Fun guitars.

Hi Gary, what a great looking guitar. Looking forward to hearing it soon. I've always been very impressed with HBs. I've got their version of a Gold Top with P90s and even with a Gibson in the house that HB is certainly not going anywhere. I've never tried a Flying V, I must put that right. My wife's sister often buys me a classic album on CD at Christmas and two or three years back it was "Argus" by Wishbone Ash. You only have to listen to that album to know how great a V can sound.

@FoxysGuitarShow 7 күн бұрын
Hi Appetite :-) I've just subbed to your excellent channel. Your reviews are very thorough. The neck profile on this is pure Goldilocks. Not too fat, not too thin, it's just right. In other words, a medium C that won't offend anyone but I'm really not the best litmus test for neck profiles. After 5 minutes they all feel ok - lucky me! Cheers, Gary :-)

@@FoxysGuitarShow Oh wow, thank you! I really enjoy your videos too, so that's very nice of you. I feel like I'm really just muddling my way through all the time... making it up as I go lol. So yeah, expect to see weird stuff as well as 'normal' reviews as I'm always experimenting for fun. YT is a very fickle friend so I reckon it's best to just enjoy it. Thanks re the neck on this one. It seems like such a lovely guitar. The fact it's light weight too makes it very very cool in my book! I can see the looks being kind of divisive, but it's just my cup of tea. I love a flame top and all that jazz as much as the next man, but I really fall for the rough and ready finishes. Thanks again! Keep rockin'

This was my first new guitar, bought in Glasgow 1976. Being a 16 year old, had to get my dad to sign for it. I got a payment book, had to get the train up weekly to pay my installment. Absolutely adored it. Then saw, I think it was the runaways playing on TV, shock horror, I'd bought a girls guitar. !!! That's how stupid I was. So traded it in for something else, can't even remember what. Spent some 39 years regretting it. But came across one on eBay, as they hardly ever come up, especially the blonde ones. I'd have paid twice what I got it for, just to get it. Was it just nostalgia? No Was it really that good? Yes! turned out to be an absolute dream to play. I've striped it to refinish. But they are worth what one is willing to pay. It's rare, and really is fantastic looking and sounding instrument. The neck is just bang on, the correct shape for me. And the action is superb. Can't praise it enough. Your playing, btw, is always lovely to hear!! From one long haired auld hippy to another😂

Hi Stevie and thanks :-) The summer of '76 was a hot one. I'd just left school and was selling ice cream from a caravan on Blackpool Beach. In those days I had an old Hagstrom which was quite nice. All my rich mates had Shaftesburys and the like and I was very envious and now when I'm playing those old Japanese guitars from the 70's it amazes me how good they still are today. Especially for something with a bolt-on neck. I like your demon mandolin playing BTW. Cheers, Gary :-)
