I lived on Blake Ave and my Mother and Father took in a family to live with us after this happened. It was a very scary day. We thought the fire would spread to our house.

That suicide was on August 11 so it was right around the time they started filming Benetatos (Naudet brothers). There's footage of him from July. At that moment the woman is contemplating suicide :(

Gotta love those MACK BAKER AERIALSCOPES. FDNY used them since the early 1960's. My Department in Eastern Pa. bought the second last one made (MACK BAKER) in 1991.

Someone said this and I think it fits most if not all the fire companies that responded that day. If were riding on any one of the 5 rescue companies you lost that company

Oh man....the drama ! LOL I don't ever remember the dangers being spoken about, except in laughter. Guys worked in busy houses because they loved doing the job, not just being on it. A lot of guys had sons who followed them onto the job. They admired and respected what their fathers did and now the sons understood why the father loved the job so much. What a great experience it was to be a New York City Fireman !

When I see these guys climbing ladders to get inside a burning building to fight the fire and rescue people, the question I have is do women firefighters do this same stuff nowadays? I have not seen women firefighters doing this. Please someone share their experience.
