I miss the town how it used to be 80s 90s early 00s. Used to love going to woolworths to get the newest cds, posters, they had brill Xmas Dec's. Their pic n mix was amazing! & loved getting a tiny can of pop from there. Then I'd go over to the book Inn to buy a couple of books (a few times I would pay for a book weekly), I'd get my new pencil case & favourite pens for school from there. Then over to the really small sports shop at the top of the spiral ramp to get a footy top (had to save up for ages for one), then further down have a look around blockbuster every other Friday to pick a video out. Then back down to the best news agents ever!, who stocked every single magazine you could wish for, I'd get a buffy magazine , some wresting mags & some pop mags depending on which ones had the best posters or stickers. Then to the weigh & save to get some Highland Toffee. Didn't get much pocket money but it seemed to stretch quite far if I saved it for a few weeks & used to do a paper round every morning before school got paid a fiver a week for that, I felt rich!. It was so much fun back then, I miss it alot. Thankyou for sharing these amazing pics in a video, nice to look back and to forget how much it sucks to be an adult in this day and age 😅 love it!

Nearby Lanercost Priory hosted King Edward I who ruled England from there for some weeks while he recovered from illness! Bonnie Prince Charlie's house on High Cross St commemorates his receiving the keys to the gates of Carlisle in the '45. So much history!

you missed the K4 kiosk [one of 6 in the UK], St.Laurence parish church & the war memorial on the hill! - ...or do the latter two not count, technically being in Overton?! Those 3 things were the reason for my visit on tuesday!! You are selling Frod's ham short!

I used to live in Addlestone, from when I was born in 1949 until 1968 - when I got married. Now a local Yokel in Wiltshire since 1972. Blimey, Addlestone has changed such a lot! Fond memories.

Went twice as a child in the early seventies . The highlight was a spring tide early one morning when I was able to comb usually submerged rocks for snagged fishing tackle. Otherwise it was the least remarkable place I ever visited.
