I LOVE your quilt's story. It is so beautiful, I hope it never gets cut up. So glad someone else out there is "making do", that is the way I was brought up and I'm still finding ways to use little odds and ends. My clappers are a couple of old math textbooks from my teaching days.

This was so enjoyable. You really went to a lot of work putting up each quilt to show us. Thank you for your descriptions and for telling us the stories behind them.

It's so enjoyable to sit and have a cup of tea while I watch and listen to your story. Even though we've only "visited" for 11 videos now, I eagerly wait to visit again. Today it's wonderful to see a quick look outside your door and all of the beautiful quilts you make. Wonderful quilt show!! Enjoy the holidays.

Hello- I have been watching your videos, and I am a huge fan. I love scrap quilts. I used to hand quilt and stopped. Watching you quilt has inspired me to try again. I have a lot of tops. I do have a question. What type of needles do you use. In the past, I used betweens and it was not smooth and it took longer to do. What type of needles do you use? It looks so effortless when you quilt. Keep making videos. You are one of my favorites.

This is the first time I have watched one of your videos and really enjoyed it! I live in the UK and there is a lady called Kate who has a KZbin channel called The Last Homely House, and she reminds me of you.

Newer subscriber- you can save your ears in a jar until you’ve got enough & then do a picture with them by using a fusible under and tulle above.

I am definitely going to try your broom trick. I have been basting my quilts on my bed but it doesnt work well as it is not a hard surface. So back to the floor.

I’m watching your followers going up every time I come back to catch up on episodes. I think you are filling avoid for quilters who want the pleasure of going back to thoughtful quilts made from scraps or their stash along with the genuine love of the craft you so naturally display. Count me in on those that say you are inspiring!😊 And I agree- restoration is so much harder than a quilt cut to a specific pattern. But you and your gut feelings are doing a great job!

I hand quilt too and loved your tips and that wonderful thread caddy! Your red sampler is absolutely stunning! I appreciated the narrative with all the extra explanation about the special touches and sentimental additions. But the woodwork and your doors were competing for my attention. They are beautiful too. Not a thing I don’t love about your videos😊 I’m looking forward to seeing that second sampler again-wow!

Wow! You have such a good eye for use of color. Your piecing and quilting are wonderful. I also like to use various fabrics of the same color in the background. I think it adds movement complexity. Thank you! I also enjoyed hearing about you journey in creating red and white quilts.

Thoroughly enjoyed watching this latest episode and learnt some things along the way. I remember seeing the R&W quilt show advertised and wished I could see it for myself. Your show is equally as impressive as you have made all yours!! You’ve brightened my day, many thanks. I look forward to each episode ❤

Love them all, but I think my favorite one is the one with all the green! It reminds me of my favorite vintage holly leaf and berry Christmas wreath that I have out all year!

I never thought of it like that-- I can see it! That one sure was a lot of tiny pieces.

@fromsmallthings509 it was absolutely worth all the time and effort! My wreath is the thick plastic kind from the 60's! Lots of leaves going in all directions and some berry clusters sprinkled here and there.

What a great gift to all of us who follow your channel, sharing part of your beautiful red and white and red and green quilts. You are truly the queen of scrap management and usage. Please think about telling us how you store your scraps. I am drowning in mine and tend to make units like 4 patches, 9 patches, flying geese and then I don't know what to do with them. And I'm sure I'm not the only one doing this. I wish you and yours a peaceful holiday and hope to see you back next year with more interesting and thought provoking works of inspiration.❤

You have a wonderful red and white quilt collection and I hope you get to keep it growing! I got to go to the "Infinite Variety" exhibit (I live in NYC) and it was phenomenal! For years there was talk of trying to mount the exhibit again but as the IQSC noted there was always an issue with finding a big enough place available to put it on so it never happened. The year after the exhibit, I attended a local quilt show where Ms. Rose and the design director of Thinc Design, the company that designed and mounted the exhibit, gave a lecture about how they collaborated on making the show. Mrs. Rose also had a very extensive collection of "cheddar" (orange) and white quilts too. I finally started on my own red and white collection for holiday decorating in 2022. Like you, I like using scraps --- Bonnie Hunter's "Cherry Crunch" was one of the ones I made. When I started, I only had a few reds in stash so put together a scrappy starting stash and then would start each quilt with the scraps from the previous ones before hitting the stash again to finish them. I don't have a sampler (well, in red and white) and I've always wanted to do Gay Bomer's (of Sentimental Stitches) "Just Takes Two" so may have to think about starting to piece some of those blocks as leader/enders to other projects. Last thoughts: Oh, that "Oak and Reel" applique quilt is great! I have that Accuquilt die and need to make that one day. I too have (and have made a auilt from) that Carol Doak book --- still love her stuff!

The exhibit in N.Y. also encouraged my love of red and white quilts. I began quilting in 1981 and it looks like we both enjoy making traditional patterns. Your quilts are wonderful and the hand quilting is the icing on the cake 🙌🙌
