Good morning Sue this is Marion Jay and I just wanted to introduce myself. I’m 92 years old next week that was 27th of November and so I can’t do very much but I love fabrics. I spend a lot of money buying that cord and things I just love to look at them and I do make a few things. My bags are pretty but far from being perfect, but I don’t mind, I’ve already had my perfect days. I was a mess of embroidery for hand. I made Irish stand stressless for seven years and they really did a lot of damage to my eyes so I have Mac generation and can’t do it anymore but I have a lot of fun and I find you work very interesting. I never dreamed of buying men’s shirts to cut up, but it would even be fun to do And that I love buttons too, so yeah, I’ve found your work and I want you to know that I’m not a good creator of the quilt however I do make little ones and then not perfect either but I do a lot of Jack and Jill not Jack and Jill but Raggedy Ann and stuff and Barbie and I love it so thank you so much and I, yeah I just signed up to your channel and we’ll see where it goes. Thank you so much.

Thank you for the suggestion! Honestly, I balance sewing and chores by doing as few chores as possible! I would love to have a spotless house, but unfortunately I have always hated cleaning. My name is Sue, too, and I'm from northwestern Pennsylvania 🙂 I haven't been quilting as long as you have, but my Mom loved color and fabric and quilting, so I've been surrounded by it all my life (40 years). I also hand quilt and make scrappy quilts. I had to be creative because I couldn't afford to buy new fabric (well, my fabric is usually "new" as in never used before). I have since made a quilt using a current fabric collection and found it rather boring 🤭 even though it was beautiful fabric.

Your scrappy blocks at the end of the video are like a pattern from Bonnie Hunter, that she calls scrappy trips. Because you have red squares running diagonally, the whole pattern will look nice, in my opinion, when it’s complete. I did one like this where my middle diagonals were navy and dark gray. Hope that helps!

Bonnie Hunter is my inspiration for this block-- I've made a few trip-around-the-world quilts before, but wasn't sure my colors were going to work this time around. Thank you for the feedback!

I appreciate your four needle tip. I never heard that before.

I've tried eight at a time also, but I'll never do that again! Four is a good number to work with.

My opinion on your quilt blocks: I saw enough contrast in color and value for the pattern to be instantly seen. On screen the colors looked great. I would put the blocks together like you show at the end and finish it for sure! But you see it in person and if your heart doesn’t sing… could you make a few more blocks and then decide? I hope you continue. Loved the video! Your camera person is doing a great job!

Thank you for the feedback! I'm planning now on making more blocks, maybe over a couple months as a background project. My daughter is doing the filming and editing-- and convinced me to start doing these videos!

Yes! That's the Quakertown, PA guild. Sorry, the Keepsake Quilters is one I used to belong to.
