These are not STVZO certified lights, just to be clear. I am currently testing a bike light with high and low beam. That's a step in the right direction at least. Video will be out in a week or two.

I was able to lick up a used on fb, like dang there new plus it had some nice upgrades, hope rotors, bar stem, grips, pedal strike crank covers. Garmin mount and more. So far this bike has surpassed my expectations. At 53 uts way more capable than I am and I really fancy the aesthetic look. One of the most impressive things for me at 225 lbs is the super beefy reinforced head tube. Not many know of it or talk about it but if you get a chance you'll see the design. This helped me decide on a hardtail. Way to go Trek!

Hi there. I know this is an old video.. But was looking around and stumbled on this one. I've noticed you said about these following ones was not tested by you. Bu...what about the Entry level ones.. Which one is the best to start with and is reliable? Recon, Reba or Judy? Something I can do XC without worries. Thanks in advance
@MTBs
@MTBs 10 күн бұрын
Yes, that was an old video all right! ;) The Reba is a bit more modern than the Recon and (don't quote me on this) I think it's the same chassis as the more expensive SID but with cheaper internals. So for XC riding, I would take a closer look at the Reba.

Is it better to have a thinner wheel like 1.9 inches than 2.35 inches?
@MTBs

In general you will have a higher tyre pressure with a thinner tyre which is good. But it will not work very well in deeper snow.

I've been thinking about getting a levo carbon for the frame. I've seen new 2023 models for 4000.00 us dollars. I've got the alloy comp. I was going to swap components. I've got cascade link, where it's bumped up to 160mm with a vivid ultimate and 170mm zeb ultimate. I thought being a couple pounds lighter would help with getting more playful on jumps. You didn't notice that between the 2 bikes?
@MTBs

Honestly I didn't notice a huge difference between the comp carbon and the comp alloy in terms of handling. There are more similarities than differences. Nuances.

I have this bike it's awesome but the spokes are sh1t, I had to replace the wheels on it with Sapim Strong spokes because my front spokes failed within weeks. It's the weakest part of the bike. Also you are incorrect the front rotor is 180mm and rear is 203.
@MTBs
@MTBs Ай бұрын
Thanks for your input. You would think DT swiss spokes in general are sufficient, but apparently not then. Interesting info about the rotors. The larger rotor is always at the front on MTBs. Maybe the fork can't take more than 180.
@barbartheelephant4389
@barbartheelephant4389 Ай бұрын
@MTBs the fork can indeed take 203 but you need the shimano spacer I use 203 on both
@MTBs
@MTBs Ай бұрын
Yes, you can always use adapters but I meant that the fork may be a bit too flexy for a bigger rotor since it's only 34 mm. Just my guess, I don't really know. Maybe it's perfectly fine.

Very nice test. One important feature for me is that I already own 3 FENIX flashlights that use 18650 / 3400mAh batteries. Going to the BC26R will make me buy extra 21700 / 5000mAh battries (2 of them) adding to the final cost. Therefore I think I will stick to the BC21R V3 (which is also cheaper)

But even if I could afford I doubt I’d buy as like you mentioned in the video, seems crazy to spend £100s on a pair of shoes to go right out and get them scuffed up and filthy, I just don’t get it 🤷‍♂️ thank you for making this video, it’s been a huge help😊

Looks good but I've tried my share of chain driven mid drive motor ebikes and the torque wears everything out much faster than a human could alone. Ebike maintenance must be easy for mass adoption, this thing won't be easy to work on at all. Personally I'm looking forward to combined geared motors with belt drives and the deployment of next gen batteries that charge faster, hold more charge, are less affected by temperature, can't burn up and can last more cycles. Until then I won't spend 6K+ on an ebike that is still going through rapid evolution and devaluation.
@MTBs
@MTBs Ай бұрын
I kind of agree. A belt drive would perhaps be a better option, but that's often more expensive up front. On the flip side, spare parts for the 10 spd Deore drivetrain are very affordable. The Bosch batteries are very durable when it comes to degradation and will last for years (know this from personal experience).
@nonegone7170
@nonegone7170 Ай бұрын
Ah yes, a belt drive, that more than often doesn't last as long as advertised, often requires a new set of pulleys when swapped, and are generally more expensive per kilometer than chains. Great tech!

@@MTBs I was taking the original Hover X1 as my personal cameraman on gravel bike adventures from a few hours to a few days (bike packing). It was good up to a point - not fast enough to keep up at anything but soft pedal speed and I would have liked it to do more far ranging cinematic landscape video like I was doing previously with my DJI Mini. The X1 Pro and Promax looks to have solved that issues, especially with the Beacon.

I agree on the framebag, only suitable for commuting and not for road and mtb bikes. It gets in the way. I'll look for a handlebar bag like I had for the X1. I also had the same Lyca case. For a company that enjoys 80% of the fork market Suntour does an awful job of getting its message out there, putting stock in shops or in any way encouraging riders to look into them. I have considered an Aion 36 but the complete lack of information out there and the distributor's non-nterest in responding to emails means I'll probably look to Rockshox or Manitou.
