Very interesting thoughts. I agree that the performance side of the bike industry probably will have a tough time ahead. At the same time the utility side of the business will thrive through recession as bikes are extremely efficient mods of transportation and the most environmentally effective as well. I missed the prediction that everyone will start to paint and build their own bikes in 2023 though, or maybe I was out for coffee when you sad that. 🙄 Happy new 2023 mate!

The Pivot dealer in my area is selling all his Pivot bikes for dealer cost like $3000+ off most of them. All his Pivot E bikes also and he has about 30 bikes for sale.

I just recently mounted a Bafang motor on my cheap MTB and all is good. I think for 2023 onward a nontechnical challenge is for EU governments to reconsider the rules and legality of e-bikes going 40 kph. Current regulations are too mediocre and generic (25kph / 600w speed and power limit where I live). Sorry if my comment is too irrelevant here.

Yes, I haven't heard anything about that being changed in the EU. But 25 km/h is not very fast, especially if you consider switching your car to an ebike for commuting.

@@MTBs there are plenty of ATV and jeep trails though. You just can’t ride motor vehicles on the mountain bike trails.
