I only cleaned my turtles big filter in dechlorinated water once a year as thr good bacteria did an excellent job keeping the water crystal clear and turtles are the messiest lol

K1 isn't a great choice either. It's designed to for moving bed filtration. Like Nexus pond filters or aquarium sumps with airstones. The media needs to be moving constantly to work.

I have a fairly young Hermann and when I put her outside she chews some of the weeds then goes in her wooden shelter like she doesn't want to be outside. She doesn't run around like George she's slow! Tried putting her on the floor in the house to see if she's slow and she is fast like George. Why do you think this is? It's always warm when I put her out so I know she isn't cold but I want her to be happy outside but she never seems to be, any advice would be appreciated

Mate!?!?! You actually don't know what your doin opr talking about!?!?! This is not a biological filter in any stretch of the imagination, let alone using K1. Its a simple mechanical filter. And you only clean the filter when its buggered?!?!?! Poor, fish!!! I dare you to do a Nitrate and Nitrate test!!!! Even at the best condition your pond could ever be.

I love how you combined the pond and enclosure and George is cute. About the corners, my Leia always tries to get out through those as well so I'm building a round one. haha

Nice enclosure, but I suggest you not let him look between the bamboo, he can see the pond, it's best that he can't see that area, he will spend a lot of time trying to get there.

Very nice tortoise and enclosure. Are you sure he can't dig under the log roll and drop in the pond? I thought horsefield tortoises are very good diggers due to the harsh natural environment they come from. Think I would have them set in concrete to be sure he cannot dig under.
