You shouldnt advertise free places to stay, people will flock there and thrash it. Then it will be closed or monitored and fee based. You ruin a beautiful place when you invite strangers
@xx84gnxx10 күн бұрын
This is free for a reason, free for all folks not a select group for your choosing. the parks already get trashed, a few more people camping here is not going to change that. if comes down to be a fee charge for the parks, then so be it. unit till now it free for all walks of life to camp here. try to have a better day Frank. 😁

We have an acre and a half on moccasin slough just outside flying eagle preserve and it is so quiet. Just the bugs and alligators, you need alot of bugspray trust me. We always do a drivethru to the preserve everytime we camp up there. If anyone wants to camp on our property b4 the preserve just let me know and we can correspond. Our property is a half mile from the preserve on moccasin slough rd. It is primitive also no electric or water or sewer. 😊

We enjoyed our stay at flying eagle, but like you said, getting back to the boondocking areas is less than ideal. We followed the instructions on the site but that road is so tight. We were getting some Florida pinstripes down the side of our RV and there were a couple really low hanging branches. We're only 10'8. So much larger rigs should be very cautious. Thanks for sharing Joe, really enjoyed seeing the area again. It's been almost 4 years now since we've been there- Kyle and Michelle

I love tent camping at McNeil, i wish they would not alow RVs in there. There is only 3 sites to camp and this past spring 1 person had a reservation and they had friends with another RV and took 2 sites/spots about 100 feet apart when we got there, there was no place to set up. They hogged up the 3 fire rings and tables. Called the powers that be and they said it was to late in the day (already5pm) so they could only send someone in the morning to have them move. Kinda ruined the beginning of our week long trip.

They had to change the rules on the water management districts campgrounds because many people were taking advantage. They used to be more lenient and let you camp more in year. Also, if you find a lot of garbage in a campsite, reach out to the WMD and let them know. They'll usually come pick it up, especially if you've already bagged it. I bag up garbage everywhere I camp, and usually am able to take it with me. One time, I had bagged up a ridiculous amount of garbage and reached out, they asked me to take it to the gate, which I did. I later had to bag up even more, and it was probably 20 bags. They told me leave it in the campsite and they would get it.
@xx84gnxx19 күн бұрын
Wow! we bag up also, but never had more than 2 nags at most. the folks that leave this trash behind will be the cause we loose the right to camp at these places. i know some spots out west has closed up some camping areas for that reason.
@departmentofredundancydept412119 күн бұрын
@xx84gnxx yes, that's why I spent time collecting all of that garbage left behind. It was entirely too much for me to remove, though. I worried that by contacting them, that might make it more difficult for people to camp, but overall they just seemed appreciative. They actually came by with one of their books and a roll of garbage bags one day because I had used so many of my own to clean up. They said they didn't have much they could do as a thank you, but I didn't expect a thank you. I was just doing my part. I actually found some massive sign letters in the woods, as well. I don't know what people are thinking when they dump like that. They just ruin everything for everyone else because they are so selfish. I truly appreciate having beautiful places to camp, and I feel like we all need to take care of our public spaces. They belong to all of us. Yes, there are caretakers we pay through our taxes, but they can't be everywhere at once. Plus, they aren't our personal staff that follows behind to pick up after us.
