How's it during Mid February to Mid March?
@WanderwithXander12 күн бұрын
Supposed to be very nice! Snow from winter but more and more clear skies. But can be cold! Depends on the winter though!

Attempted this climb a few days ago but had to turn back even before the Via ferrata sections due to ice. Careful the route & Gleckstienhutte are currently shut. This route does not go past the normal sign that would tell you this.

I hiked it last week, the route is open. - As long as the hut is open, they will put a daily update of the hiking conditions onto their website gleckstein ch. - If the hut is closed, you can still check the wheather by looking at their current webcam picture on that website and often still hike to the hut (but no stay over night).

Note: -many people died there before, you will find plenty of crucifixes along the way -the hike as a hole is not an official hiking route anymore (only parts of it) and therefore not maintained by anyone. The government strongly recommends not doing this hike -bring at least 5 liter of water -if there was rain two days before, don't attempt -you better be in amazing shape

Awesome, I get dizzy on the last one just by watching 😅If you ever go back to Zermatt, you should make your way up to the "Hörnlihütte" at the foot of the Matterhorn. If you did the Hardergrat, this would be one for you as well, I think.

Thanks for the tip! Going to Switzerland in October so I might check it out
@uklie012 ай бұрын
@@WanderwithXander not sure if you can still do it in October and also check first how "possible" it is to go to Zermatt this year since it was hit with extreme rain and floods this summer. Wish you save hikes wherever you go 🤗
