A good explanation. I’ll admit some of it went completely over my head, but that’s more of a me problem rather than an issue with the video itself. I still question what type I supposedly am (INTP) from time to time, but there is enough similarities where I can more or less accept it.
@The_Bear_Army15 күн бұрын
I mean unless an INTP has thought about something in depth and came to the conclusion themselves, then it's their Ti nature to repeatedly doubt the beliefs of others as part of their internal process to think it through. A Te tends to be a bit more flexible in that regard, providing the logic is logical.

I love how you spliced the techno-bable. Hilarious. One of the biggest miscues of this film was in the marketing. It clearly leaned on the 80s movies, even going as far as to put the newpaper clippings in the trailers. They clearly made it seemed like this film was connected to the others. They should have just rolled with that. As far as bring a woman led film, I don't think anyone would've cared had they not tried to benefit from the 80s films in the lead up just to turn around and try to shit on them. The fact they can't make females compelling leads without crapping on men or going out of their way to make them sound smart with a bunch of gobbledygook just shows they're bad writers. The one positive I'll give the film is they didn't make the characters being women the whole point, which is what a lot of progrssive films do nowadays.
@The_Bear_Army Жыл бұрын
Literally only 20 minutes after your comment i got a copywrite strike by Sony, hence the video was blocked and I thought i was gonna be unable to respond for maybe a month. Turns out it got lifted about 10 minutes after i disputed it giving my legal reasons. I appreciate your comments, and i'm glad i wasn't the only one that thought the techno-babble bit just fit. From beginning to end it was made in bad faith in regards to how it used and treated the originals. It was near inevitable that would have been reflected in the trailers. You do make a good point though of them benefiting from the originals only for them to disrespect them in the same vain. I do think you're right the bulk don't care about them being women, yet clearly the makers did, and that was one of my main points, that they're the ones that brought identity politics into this, when that had nothing to do with the original films, them not being political at all. Can't say i agree though that they didn't make the characters being women the whole point, unless I'm misunderstanding your meaning. Because as far as i can figure, that's pretty much the moral of the story; women smart and good who can do no wrong, men stupid and bad who can do nothing but wrong.

The saying, “When you’re accustomed to privilege, equality feels like oppression,” applies a lot these days, but it feels especially-and unfortunately-relevant in the conversations around “Captain Marvel.” Star Brie Larson has made reasonable and refreshing calls for inclusivity in the press access around the Marvel Cinematic Universe film, which some dudes have taken (wrongly) to mean “no white men” allowed in the club house-a club house that they’ve guarded for, oh, pretty much the entire history of film journalism. In an interview with the Washington, D.C. FOX station, she clarifies what she meant for anyone who was still confused about her statement “What I’m looking for is to bring more seats up to the table,” the Oscar-winning actress said when asked by the interviewer about the angry response. “No one is getting their chair taken away. There’s not less seats at the table, there’s just more seats at the table.” Those offended by her statements have taken to the internet with their ire, most recently on Rotten Tomatoes. There they’ve tried to tamp down excitement for the film with negative user reviews, which seems like a less-than-effective strategy as well as a poor use of their time, but you do you, trolls. By contrast, early reviews by those who have actually seen the movie are generally glowing
@The_Bear_Army Жыл бұрын
Which part of my review are you responding to? Or are you just changing the subject and talking of other reviews?
@mikarandom42 Жыл бұрын
Have you ever read a movie review and felt like it completely missed the point (and the magic!) of a film you love? Brie Larson apparently has, and is offering a tangible, achievable solution to these misguided reviews: a more diverse pool of film critics. At the Women in Film Crystal + Lucy Awards in Los Angeles, Brie spoke about the importance of greater representation in criticism, which would hopefully lead to increased representation in the films themselves.
@The_Bear_Army Жыл бұрын
"A misguided review" is implying there's such a thing as a completely objective review of anything. There isn't, since all different points of view inevitably have an element of subjectivity in them. Based on what you've just said about her, that does fit my view that she doesn't handle criticism all that well.
@mikarandom42 Жыл бұрын
You think she came up with this concept but that's not the case. If you go on wiki under "african american cinema" and read the first sentence, it says "made for". Hate the game, not the player.
@The_Bear_Army Жыл бұрын
Again, what are you talking about?
@mikarandom42 Жыл бұрын
A Wrinkle in Time was a film that's target audience was NOT 40 yr old white dudes. The press who got to review that film leaned heavily in that demographic. A balanced field of journalists would have gotten a variety of eyes on that film. Resulting in the target audience's perspective reaching the public. Brie Larson only made a rude comment, if you take a clip out of context and ignore the whole point of her speech
@The_Bear_Army Жыл бұрын
Once again, I didn't say anything about that in this review, so I'm not kind sure what you're responding to.
@mikarandom42 Жыл бұрын
Brie didn't say white males don't have the right to an opinion because of the colour of their skin. She cited statistics and shared her opinion. Which she's entitled to too. That opinion being when she stated what she doesn't need. And what she doesn't need being a 40 yr old white dude to tell her what didn't work for him about a Wrinkle in time, over a critic from the intended target demographic of the film. Its cool that you enjoyed A Wrinkle in Time. That film directed by Ava DuVernay may have been accessible to you but was not made FOR you. She had teens in mind before you. She had females in mind before you. She had black viewers in mind, before you. (I'm assuming you're white). None of this takes away from your enjoyment. Just saying that films are made for non white male audiences too and that they should be covered by a field of non white males that is proportionate to the general population. Check out the whole thing dude. She mentions everything you would want to hear from her.

Yeah, sorry about that. KZbin's system of advertisement is far from perfect. Yet if you want to help the content creators you choose to support, watching their ads all the way through is one of the best ways. If they're not fully watched then neither KZbin or the creator make any money off them, and KZbin's algorithm prefers sharing those they can make money off. Defo sucks though.
