My concern is that it has now gotten into our horse trailer and onto things. How do I decontaminate every single corner of the trailer that it might have gotten onto? I went in and immediately washed as well as you did with Dawn Ultra. But my husband was not careful. After we finished trying to remove the plant, I washed the walkway with dawn, alcohol, and vinegar. So not sure how it made its way to my face, neck, breasts, and inner thighs. My guess it that it somehow got into our bedsheets.

What about washing clothes? Is washing machine and detergent enough without any friction?

Sir, you and this video are the epitome of what’s good and right with the Internet. This is the ideal. I cannot tell you how much I appreciate not only seeing this video myself but seeing all the comments of the people whose lives you’ve helped, excellent. I find it almost embarrassing. How emotional I am at the idea that I feel like this is what makes us America. This is what makes us human just helping each other out with no expectations. I know this is an over the top statement, but I believe in this particular case it is truly an absolutely warranted, may your life be blessed with lots of wonderful things!!!!

Never had bad poison ivy. I always washed quickly and thoroughly after exposure with Dawn but I always avoided rubbing in an aggressive way with a cloth to avoid abrading the skin and pushing the urushiol deeper into it. Great to learn that this is not an issue to be concerned about.

This only helps if you know you had contact. Most people who get it don't realize it until it's too late and the rash is already there. Great advice though if you know you have the invisible oil on you.

Me or my father can cut poison ivy or poison oak and it's never bothered us for some reason without gloves. But ive seen what it does to other people very sad!!

Great advice i have been doing this for years , carry a spray bottle with half Dawn and water in a bucket with the blue shop towels , wash down at Vehicle every time face ,hands ,arms [steering wheel ] than take a serious shower with a wash cloth when home. I might add that you can get it from dead looking poison ivy even in the winter if you cut the vine the oil inside is still active. Also nothing , no , nothing beats being able to identify it in vine and low lying form , once you can identify it you can simply stay away and avoid contact when in the woods or wherever. Quick story to add -while climbing a cottonwood tree in a climbing tree stand over 20 years ago i cut some vines that appeared to be dead [no green at all] and when doing so the urishol oil in the wood like pulp blew everywhere and into my eyes , wound up going to the emergency room within 4 hours my eyes had sealed shut and face looked like i was beat with a chain it was so puffy. Not giving medical advice but what they gave me was a generic dose of Benedryal . Years of experience have taught me to look and identify it first than avoid at all costs, but the dawn and a washcloth within an hour has always worked for me 100% .

Yup. I was exposed without knowing until a day afterwards, and didn't shower the night I was exposed. So, of course it spread as I slept. I've been doing my best to wash everything I came in contact with, scrubbing with alcohol on surfaces I can't wash with dawn, using a heavy duty detergent to wash our bedding, washed/scrubbed myself with dawn in the shower, etc.

What do you do with the washcloths you use to scrub yourself?

I have cut poison ivy off of trees and fences,i walk around it is waist high,it brushes my skin, i have never had a rash in my entire life, im 64yeas old.😂

Then throw the wash cloth away. Literally. It will spread it to talent articles in the laundry or give it to you later when you go to use it even after the laundry. I'm allergic. No e of this matters to me. I'll get it now because we talked about it

Once you get it though (currently dealing with poison sumac) those silly expensive products with the leaves on the cover are all you've got left in this world. A fool's hope. The Benadryl ointment works great. lol

Poison oak gets me but never poison ivy.
