Fantastic tune. My very first 12" single when I was 17. I'm fucking 62 now and still love it (and still have the 12" single! )x

Back in the day i saw this genius band in the Nashville Rooms in West Ken London. We always tried to get a front table and he used to plonk his bum down for a drink before his next set. Nice bloke...loved his voice. Spoke like he swallowed broken glass....sadly missed...not many icons left...he really was one of a kind!!! God bless ya!

Every bit as great live as the single is. Maybe better actually. This _should_ be the official anthem for gen X-ers. This one is definitely on the list of songs I want playing at my funeral. Perfect song.

These guys were one of the best live shows I have ever seen. Such an extraordinary band. The bass line in this song is top shelf, not many people could play this.

I apologize. I got 8nto Dinner Party and heard (what I now know) is a cover of this song and was blown away. Just heard a Weird Al cover so I went to listen to the song where I found your original. Holy hell. This song rocks. I will be checking out more of your stuff.

Feels like a Smokey members club in the nineties - remember hearing this before I ever can remember liking music and just dancing and going mad. Nearly 30 years later still sounds like total authenticity. Perhaps one of the best ever intros to a song. RIP Ian

A Brit friend calls this song "the best pub rock ever." When it came out I was in the stereo business and used the 12" single as a demo-- that bass track that comes in is lethal. As wonderful now as it was 45 years ago!
