Derek had some pretty big shoes 👞 to fill in when he became the frontman for the funk-rock group the Blockheads, he seemed to have done a good job at taking the lead. It was very sad to hear that Derek 'The Draw' Hussey had passed away this month and that Chaz will be taking over lead vocals (Chaz has a nice voice anyway and I’m sure he’ll do a amazing job at being the new full time lead singer for the Blockheads.) RIP Derek, condolences 💐 to his family and friends.

seen them lots over the past few years - wonderful... they had to get over the loss of their singer, Ian, and move on, they have, time you did too Dazzwidd. They were the Blockeads before him too

So yous think its anything the same without dury? I dont. They probably shoulda made up a new name, different logo and went on in their own direction. SURE it might not have been as sure commercially, but you guys aren't doing this for the dough, right?

Ian Dury AND The Blockheads. Like The Pirates after the death of Kidd. They've continued to produce excellent, innovative, funk laden tunes with sharp lyrics, with a nod to Ian along the way. The core of The Blockheads were a working band already when they teamed up with Ian + Chaz. Give them a listen.

Why? They're still The Blockheads with or without Ian. That's their name. When they were with Ian, they were Ian Dury and The Blockheads. And yeah, they still sound amazing with their new singer.
