Just bought the modern reissue from Seiko. Very stoked on the quality for the price. And it looks exactly the same!

The video was great until you stopped talking about it and switched to music. It ruins it for me when people do that. Just film the project and talk your way through it.

How was it running previous compared to after the service? Did you end up doing a lume whitening on the dial? Did you end up replacing all the gaskets?Thank you for the excellent video of another classic being restored!
@BlairWatchProject12 күн бұрын
great questions. Thanks! I was basically not running at all. I did a bit on the dial lume plots, but they were in good shape. It was mostly corrosion on the surrounds that needed the most attention. The case back and crown gaskets were replaced. The crystal gasket is viton, so they do not degrade in time and just need to be cleaned and re-installed.

A beautiful & very sympathetic restoration!😎👍🏼 P.s. I was given a Citizen date only watch back in 1972 from my late father. It was brand new but a 1968 model! I’ve only recently had it serviced after not wearing it for some 40 years! It has a few blemishes consummate with its age but it’s keeping fantastic time! Cheers from Australia.🇦🇺🍻

I have an old, early 90's Seiko diver watch not running. I lost it years ago just found it . I took to it to a local jeweler and they told me they would have to send it to Seiko factory/ to be evaluated, cheaper to buy a new one. I just want to get it running for old times sake. I'm going to try one more local guy to see what he can do.

have the same watch and the chapter ring will not lock into place. It was cleaned by a professional and when return the chapter ring spins inside the case. It appears when you remove the movement from the case there is small notch that may have a missing piece that locks the chapter ring in place. Any suggestions?

hi Dan, great video, i've watched it (pun intended) a few times already and I'm sure i'll watch it some more. I just wanted to add some info about the 'pip' lume in the triangle on the bezels, you can clearly see in the last two examples in your video that one has a shiny orange pip and the other is normal lume. Do you have any info about why they had those 2 different pips? (see kzbin.info/www/bejne/d4GVeneYjpKjqbc) I have a 'water proof' 6105-8000 from March 1970 based on the serial number with the orange pip, and in your introduction you showed the 62mas with the orange pip. I'd love to hear your thoughts on that. Why did some ship with 'water proof' /'water resist' and the orange pip, versus what looks like normal lume, thanks for reading my comment ! Also, is there any chance you could do a follow up video to address some of the questions/comments in this video ? and focus on the straps too ? that would be awesome. thanks again.

Could I please ask, what’s a fair price to pay for one of these. Been offered a 1974 by a chap I know who has had it since he was in forces purchased at air force base. All original parts and serviced in 2020, after market strap, no box or papers, dial is pretty scratched up and hands have a bit of lume rot. Offered for £1000 sterling?

Hello friend, I have purchased a Seiko SSC911 watch but it is made in China. I bought it from an Ebay seller with more than 6.6 K followers, 26 K items sold and 99.3% positive feedback. They explained to me that Seiko produces its watches in Japan, Thailand and China. The watch is of good quality, except it says Made in China. Is this true? Is there any other difference between Seiko watches depending on their manufacturing origin?
