*"comeptent but as boring as a sow on election day"* needs a plumb bow, forward facing glass, a *REAL* control station for the owner/operator and somerhing more akin to what Sea Ray already does with offsetting the glass instead of a straight through pass through so no, not a serious offer in this product segment in the least at the moment 😊😊

I’ve been so set into getting a center console for our first boat until we saw the R257 at the Ft. Lauderdale Show. It’s now our number one on our list specially it has space for fishing, scuba diving, or just relaxing

I have the R302, what's the advantage of having 350's engines over 300's , when I got mine i was advised not to do that because of the extra weight?

I own one and it is a good fish, family cruise boat optioned with the rear facing bench seat behind helm. I also got the Yamaha helm master joystick. I have owned boats for most part of my life and did not need the joystick, the wife wanted it so she could pilot confidently. I have ended up using it in those heavy wind/current days and it is nice, also the fish lock via this system enables me to not need a trolling motor for some of my fishing applications. I find the wide beam beneficial and the size is perfect for tight mooring fields and Marinas, but still being big and heavy enough to make travel in moderate seas comfortable as can be expected in a 30 footer.

Cost is unreasonably high in my opinion for my set up, triple 350’s on a pursuit OS380. 15k buys a lot of gas, when’s that going to break even, three years?
@poyorudo
@poyorudo Жыл бұрын
Maybe but then when you sell it, it will have a higher selling value?
@perrycarditi5
@perrycarditi5 Жыл бұрын
@@poyorudo it never works that way with modified equipment in my experience. You never get your money back at resale or if you get anything, it’s pennies on the dollar. Might help the sale but it nets no real money. Another consideration, who’s going to work on that prop the first time I ding a log? Local guy in BF nowhere southeast AK, doubtful. Till it’s cheeper, much cheeper, or I see compelling actual performance data on a 22,000 lb boat with 350 Yamahas the same as my own or very similar, im good with the plain old ~800$ per, three blade Yamaha prop.
@ThorRavnsborg
@ThorRavnsborg Жыл бұрын
That obviously depends on several factors. First of all how much you use your boat but fuel prices and your specific application will naturally also play a role. I did the math based on a test I found here on KZbin. That test was done on a smaller boat with a single engine but based on the efficiency improvements at optimal cruising speeds using their figures and today's gas prices the prop had paid for itself after about 180 hours of cruising. But as they say your mileage may vary.
@perrycarditi5
@perrycarditi5 Жыл бұрын
@@ThorRavnsborg hence i specified my boat and engine config. Im burning 42-50 gph going 35-45 mph, at 41-50 rpms. Looking at a similar boat test with this style props and 250 hrs a year its going to take a long time. Cost is ridiculous at this point. No way im investing 15k in props on a 7 year old boat. Sillyness
@ThorRavnsborg
@ThorRavnsborg Жыл бұрын
@@perrycarditi5 Yes, they are definitely pricey and hopefully they will be able to lower manufacturing costs and reduce prices in a not too distant future. I obviously can't tell you what the exact fuel savings would look like in your case but a reduction of 10-15 gph doesn't seem far fetched if you reduce your engine rpms to the 3000-4000 range which is typically where these props excel (and that should give you nearly the same speed as running around 1000 rpms higher with standard props). I think there's a good chance you would break even on the investment within two years at 250 hrs per year (even without taking added resale value into account) but don't hold me up on it. But even if it takes four or five years to break even I would say that's actually still a very respectable return from a financial standpoint (assuming the props will last at least a few years longer than that).
