What kind of storm damage does this area have from the hurricane, my stay at Koomer Ridge camp just got cancelled
@ExploringWithDRob18 сағат бұрын
The RRG area got a lot of wind damage, tons of trees down. All of the major forest service roads are currently closed as well as many trails and Koomer Ridge Campground.

Did you hike the Bison Way Trailhead to access the Indian Staircase? Is it also a loop back to the parking lot?
@ExploringWithDRob2 күн бұрын
Yes. Take Bison Way to the Sheltowee Trace. Take a left on the ST back toward the river until you reach the cutoff for Indian Staircase. After climbing the staircase there’s trails that follow around the cliffline that’ll loop you back around to the Sheltowee Trace(make a left) not far from Indian Arch. Then just follow the ST back to Bison Way. It’s a ‘lollipop loop’ instead of a big circle. You’ll be on the same section of trail from Bison Way to Indian Staircase trail twice.

Hi Rob, my comment disappeared. Make this short. another masterpiece. Stunning timelapse footage. We experience thick clouds coverage in the mountains but this sunrise is spectacular. Is this name Chained Rock inspired by the chain I am seeing? 4:11 You executed the beauty of Chained Rock. May I ask the length and the name of the trail? One day trip?

Headed to Castle Arch tomorrow. I'd think the driest summer in 130 years or whatever it is will make that creek crossing a breeze. Thanks!

Should be a very easy creek crossing right now, I’d be surprised if there’s anywhere at that crossing that would even get you laces wet. Be sure to checkout the overlook on top!

Hi Rob OMGoodness Kentucky is a mother of Natural Stone Bridges! I like the comparison of the photos between past and presence. The past ones are from autumn, I reckon. Which season of the bridges are you favor of. How do you usually find the destination to visit? Majestic! How bad was mosquitoes? For my curiosity, you mentioned Mystery Falls when I asked you the destinations I can kayak to get to see the waterfall. Do you recall many more popped out in your head? appreciate it.
@ExploringWithDRobАй бұрын
Gnats and flies was super aggravating, not really that many mosquitoes. There’s another one close to Mystery Falls called Garner Branch Falls. You could hit both of them on the same trip!

Wow split bow is beautiful, can really tell why it was named that. The graffiti makes me want to throw up. Absolute scumbag behavior. Problem is you can't really stop that because from this person's F'd up moral viewpoint they don't think they did anything wrong.

Any helpful ideas about Red birds arch
@ExploringWithDRob2 ай бұрын
Plan on doing a video to Red Byrd when the cold months get here. The best/easiest route is from Calaboose Ridge. I think the unofficial trailhead shows up on Google. A lot of the hike is following old road beds but be prepared for lots of downfall. Have a good map or gps, you follow the ridge all the way out until you’re close to the arch, then you head downhill to it. There’s a user trail, not sure how worn it is, I’ve not been there in about a year.
@cobrajones57462 ай бұрын
@@ExploringWithDRob thank you very much that will help me a lot to find it, i been going to the gorge for years now, still a lot of arches ain't seen yet that I'd love to see, wanna see the Indian arch and adenas arch but my wife has ankle issues and she can't do the Indian staircase, can i ask if there's another way to Indian arch without going up Indian staircase so she can see it, and do you have any idea if they've decommissioned the cloud splitter yet really wanted to see that before they did, my wife refuses that one 🤣🤣🤣 but that one's gonna be a treat to myself if they didn't decommissioned it yet, it really makes me sad that some people can't go and see this magnificent place without causing destruction, and or leaving graffiti on these rocks, like you said in you're video they are an eyesore and takes the essence of the naturallity out of what one should see, and leaving trash they're the reasons these amazing places are getting closed, thank you a lot for the reply and the help on directions on the red Byrd, I've watched all you videos and I have them saved on playlists, they've been more helpful finding these spots than any other resources because you take time to point out every detail, things to look for to guide ones adventure, and looking forward to another video, have a good one I'll speak to you if i ever run into ya on one of the trails,🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
@ExploringWithDRob2 ай бұрын
To my knowledge, CloudSplitter is still accessible, heavily trafficked trail up to it. To get to Indian Arch, start at Bison Way trailhead. Take it til it intersects with the Sheltowee Trace. At that intersection you’ll see a sign that points right to corner ridge and left to the Red River. Make a left and follow the Sheltowee towards the Red River. Indian Arch is right along the trail roughly 1.5 miles from that intersection. To get to Adena Arch, follow the Sheltowee Trace past Indian Arch to the top of the hill. The Sheltowee will continue to the right. But to get to Adena Arch, you’ll see a heavily trafficked user trail to the left. Follow that trail out to Adena Arch. Afterwards, follow that trail back out to the Sheltowee and then just follow the trail out the same way you came in, make an out and back trip out of it. Hope that helped. And appreciate you watching/enjoying the videos, thanks for watching!
