I have 1M taps, 900 nuke cola, max of everything, 194 dwellers, almost all at max special. Never spent anything. It took me 4 months without particular effort, not so much time for this type of game

I played FOS when it first came out. Recently I came back to FOS after watching the new Fallout TV show and it was nice to see the new things that had been added. Now there's pets, crafting and themes. As a TV show tie-in game I'm really just playing for the stories, screw the gameplay loop. So if I unlocked everything to allow me to get through all the missions, that would allow me to actually _finish_ the game in a sensible amount of time. With enough Mr. Handy to automate resource collection it becomes true idle game. Unlike the Star Trek Lower Decks idle game which requires much more active playing and *_so many ads_* that it's misleading for them to call it an idle game.

I watch ads...you get free Quantum cola...i never do in game purchases. I have all my dwellers maxed out.

Why would anyone spend money on this? The only time ive ever died and lost was because i didnt realize if you dont have anyone to fight the intruders will chase all your pregnant women into the living quarters and its game over. Didnt even know it was possible til it happened 😂

"This idle survival game sux cuz I skipped past the idle parts and gave myself all the resources I needed to survive! 😠" Like bro, what did you expect? I understand your point is that spending money on the game will make it less enjoyable, but I think you're missing the fact that cheating is limitless whereas paying is limited by the amount you're willing to spend on the game. Even the biggest whales won't be able to use their cola as flagrantly as you can with cheating.

The biggest problem I always had with fallout shelter and why i stopped playing was that there is a only finite amount of space you can build your vault in. Once you fill that space there is just nothing to do in the game

This is a topic very close to my heart, breaking the confines of what a game typically allows you to do is one of my favorite things, be it using cheats in gta, installing mods for fallout or creating a private minecraft server with custom gameplay tweaks. One thing you have to remember when doing any of it, is that you're no longer just merely a player, buy stepped into the role of a game designer, probably without even realizing it. The programmed in restrictions are no longer there, the only thing stopping you from editing out all of the fun from a game is yourself. You've got to ask yourself, is making this change, giving myself these abilities or items, installing this mod done to alleviate a frustration you have with a game and allowing you to continue enjoying a game that otherwise would be ruined for you by these arbitrary restrictions placed by the developers, or are you actively editing out fun gameplay you'd otherwise enjoy. The answer isn't always simple or clear, but you've got to do your best. Going outside of the experience designed for you makes you responsible for your own fun, it's only up to you to decide which aspects of a game are stopping you from enjoying the game, and bypassing which ones will lead to you just ruining your fun.

I feel like I got to the same point without ever spending money on the game, I just spent a bunch of time playing it over probably a year or two before realizing how repetitive the game is and how useless progress feels, since, like DFG said, you are building rooms and upgrading things so you can build more rooms to help you repeat that cycle until I guess you have all maxed out characters and a finished vault?

I modded the game with Lucky Patcher back in the day, and my modded save is still on the cloud

The combat in Fallout Shelter is some of the most horrendous fighting I've had to put up with. It's soooo slow and so annoying when the enemy keeps hitting you but your dweller REFUSES to hit back.

basically if you wanna still enjoy the game but skip on some of the time takers only cheat in nuka cola quantum and only use it for return trips

9:57 There is technically protection, as the save files are encrypted (json), but the decryption key of course has to be included inside the game executable for it to be able to open the saves and somebody managed to extract it.

I always play survival mode games and find that the early game is the most enjoyable. The addition of the streaming characters: Lucy, Max, the Ghoul adds some depth helping speed the game up. Elevators are cheap, someone already suggested staggering rooms. Always send your strongest out to scavenge common weapons and outfits. Grow your population slowly. Knock out every objective. On quests equip your toughest character with melee weapon. Concentrate fire, change your tank's target to protect your weakest. Don't activate criticals unless you encounter a boss or an emergency. Build based on need not symmetry, and don't upgrade unless your dwellers are sufficiently leveled. Mid-game train only necessary skills. Build radio station and stack recruits outside. Endurance outfits help add HP when leveling up. Agility speeds damage on quests and luck helps criticals. Level up your most well rounded in the wasteland. The end game I find less fun, building legendary stuff and training offspring and running missions mainly for speedups... but still good when you on hold or waiting in lines. When its too boring rinse and repeat.

Ill be honest I love Shelter, and I've never had to spend money on it but I treat Shelter like an idle game, just come in occasionally, and only use premium currencies on long term additions (like training times) I think my complete lack of mobile game experience being only familiar with PC focused idle games, especially the old classic flash idle games really helped in this regard. And if your playing a non attention heavy game then you can keep shelter up in the background occasionally pop in to click things and accumulate caps and level ups a lot faster, especially in the early parts of the game then you might experience otherwise. And if Bethesda actually bothered to give Shelter proper attention, proper updates and support Shelter could have been a great game in my opinion. Instead its a abandoned albeit fun for me relic that is easily recognizable as such of a small Fallout microgame that resultingly while fun cant measure up to any of the main Fallout games be it in overall fun experience within the time spent, and overall time spent to play it.

My experience with Fallout Shelter is getting past the tutorial, having to wait for a dweller to come back, and never playing again. Based on what I saw in this video I probably would have quit short after if I could be bothered to do anything more than uninstall.

So this game is balanced SOLELY on how willing a consumer is to fork over cash? Minnows face a slog as they struggle for scraps to get start. Whales face emptiness as they start with everything and breeze through every obstacle to their meteoric growth. And somehow, this is all balanced for some imaginary dolphin middle class idealized by the creators when making the system. ...so it is a capitalism simulator. The poor save protection just lets you understand multiple perspective and see a f2p system as a whole.

You don't have to pay anything. All you need to do is alter the time and or date on your device. You can do that as many times as you want, there's no consequences for doing it, it lets you skip wait times and collect the rewards for grinding up to a week

It felt good because you're no longer trapped behind a paywall.

i just uninstalled this after trying it a bit, there's just nothing to it except waiting. Pixel Dungeon and Vampire Survivors are my go to at the moment, actual gameplay and fun.

Idk how it happened but i played fallout shelter on aptoid and modded the crap out of it, but somehow I got that modded save from aptoid to save on google play cloud. Now i got 400,000 quantum, almost a million in caps, like 25 pairs of various power armors, tons of weapone ranging from alien blasters to mini nuke launchers, and like 50 vault dwellers that have maxed stats😂😂😂 the game is busted😂😂
