1:35 Rand can awaken sleeping characters and characters that are KO. So you don’t have to cast a Life Spell nor use a Revive Item. I wish Bleu’s overworld ability had more uses because it looks so cool.

I think ps3 holds it own solidly in the Phantasy Star timeline. The game, to me, is amazing. I have 2 modest complaints, only, from the game. It could have used more npc's to kind of flesh the game out some more, and I do love the animated cut scenes and wish it had even just a few more. The music is awesome. It is the only game i can immediately think of that the overworld music, evolves as your party evolves, and the "terrible" battle theme, changes with how well youre doing in the battle. I think the music is great. The game has replay value to the entire contents of the game. Not just a special dungeon, or some extra side quests, but having 4 different endings, can get you to completely replay the game 4 times. The walking speed is only bad, if you were just playing a game with greater walking speed. The speed seems slow, but realize, many of your destinations can almost be scene while on a single screen. If you play the game for just a short bit, you dont even realize the walking speed anymore. I also think the story of ps3 is awesome, and its place in the algo story line is fantastic. I largely think of ps3 as a dlc for ps2, that takes place concurrently with ps4. I think a lot of people are too hard on ls3, but, to each their own.

Nintendo could’ve killed the handheld gaming market with that Game Boy. They just didn’t want to. Too bad Sega and NEC, the decade before, had beat them with LCD backlights, but with horrible LCD color displays. Nintendo had superior displays. All they needed was a damn backlight.

I dont normally play eastern rpg's but i absolutely loved this game. The combat was so good that here i'am in 2024 trying to find more games with the combat style and playability.

I liked the technique shop; I liked that the characters knew all the techniques from the start and could balance or specialize in the techniques you wanted them to specialize in.

Agree fully! really wanted to love this game but just could not get into it at all despite trying to stick with it, I do have to give Watermelon probs for coming up with the most gorgeous packaging design I have ever seen for a video game! They put a lot of heart and soul in that wish they did the same for game design..

Like you said, in 2008 the PS2 was FLOODED with RPGS, mostly here in the west we got a lot of the Western RPGs with a good healthy handful of JRPGs, but in 2008 not only was the entire RPG genre overloaded, but at that time the PS2 was on it's last leg and the PS3 had already been out since 2006 so a lot of companies by the time 2008 rolled around were already switching or had already switched their focus towards the PS3. The fact anything was released in 2008 for the PS2 is impressive. I do have to say though, the PS2 was and probably still is one of *THE BEST* console eras for RPGs and especially JRPGs here in the states. Two of my all-time favorite Action JRPGs is Radiata Stories, as well as Star Ocean: Till the end of time. In terms of the more traditional Turn based JRPGs, that's a tough one, cause we had Final Fantasy X, Shadow Hearts, Persona 3 and 4, and a massive library to choose from, which we missed out on a lot of great JRPGs during the PS1 era and even the Super Nintendo/Super Famicom era.

I am learning all about classic RPG's to study on my own. It sounds like the Sword Of Vermillion was underslept on.

Shit like this always happens during or after sleep. I understand hearing sensitivity to a certain degree, part of my own disability has sensory issues where certain noises get really bothersome for me and give my anxiety, so knowing that you can hear things like that super loud sounds pretty frightening to me. Given your passion in music, it sucks that this happened to you of all people since it's taken away a huge enjoyment out of your life so I hope the problem goes away.

My brother has tinnitus which is like a constant ringing or buzzing in the ear. No cure you are just supposed to ignore it or mask it. I guess medicine doesn't understand the workings of the ear very well.

This game was trying to pull off a more real-time take on Ultima (the dungeons and the instanced battle screens are straight out of Ultima III, IV, and V) but it doesn't quite stick the landing. The combat really needed more time in the oven because it could have been the highlight of the game. Instead it's just a stat check pretending to be something more than that.

I played this game when I was but a little kid in 2009, and had completely forgotten about brave story ( I guess wayfinder Lau would’ve been right if I finished the game back then haha) Nowadays if I were to ask anyone I know about this game their response is always “What’s that???” Which is a real shame that this RPG is widely unknown nowadays, I wish they made some sort of 3D spin off or something where tatsuya returns as an adult to see what his friends are all up to or something unfortunate happens to him and he needs to return to Vision for a second time where his friends find him and they go on a journey trying to make him remember them and such

The sega classics complain is the best way too play this (or on an emulator) the save stats and rewind/fast forward definitely helps with the games manutany, it’s still one of my favorites on the genesis, though if someone was looking for the genesis best action rpg, i would lead them towards landstalker, since its both on the same collection, as well as being under $50 gor a complete in box copy if you want it physical, crusader of centi os the obvious best pick for the best genesis action rpg lol, but im pretty sure it’s never been rereleased and a physical copy can run you a couple of hundred dollars

I wish Camelot would remake Golden Sun & The Lost Age from the ground up. A full remake as one huge title the way it was intended to be
