It amazes me that the word invasive is used so flippantly by humans. Most humans have invaded other countries, but the word used is colonization. They build homes in everglades and the habitats of the species are considered dangerous to the encroaching urbanization of the non invasive human. Get real

We grow and breed them here on The Homestead as our main Meat Bird. Chickens and Turkey have to be fed. Muscovy? They graze and feed themselves. They dont exist in the wild here in The Ohio River Valley and pretty much nobody's heard of 'em nor seen one before.

Just got drawn for the Big Bend Ranch quail hunt in January which will be Blue quail. Coming from only hunting Bobwhites in the panhandle, Kansas, and Georgia it should be a fun adventure. My dogs might hate me afterward though when they are done running through that mess. 😂

It’s a blast in that country. I compare it to hunting chukar but in a desert. I would be very cautious taking your dogs from the vegetation and the rough rock that can tear up their pads in a heartbeat. Good luck and hope you make some lasting memories!

We are considering wearing waders during our float. We’re going into the Brooks Range, and one of the local guys recommends not wearing them but I see most people wearing them in hunting videos. Interested in your thoughts on the risk versus game. Thanks, great video.

Do you guys recommend floating in waders or is it too dangerous?
@NewDivideOutdoors
@NewDivideOutdoors 11 ай бұрын
I think a lot of it depends on the class river/terrain you’re hunting. For where we moose hunt I’m not gonna pass on waders as just about everything is muskeg or the river. Contrary to belief if you dunk yourself in your waders they won’t completely fill up and sink you but they can hinder you if you’re trying to swim to shore. For the brooks it would depend on what river I was floating. North brooks, probably not wear waders, south brooks yes/no depending on what areas I’m floating through.

We floated out about 50 miles on the Ivishack river. I’m glad I had my waders for wind and rain and also dragging the boats. We had inflatable life vests if we fell in. I also hunted in my waders the whole time because of the amount of water everywhere. Used my wading boots.

Thanks! I think the biggest issue was keeping cameras dry and batteries from getting too cold. We use a seek outside 8 man with I believe the xl stove. I love it, for everything not just float and/or moose hunting.

Love it. It’s fairly heavy duty pvc material that can take a beating. The thing that I love about it that really sets it apart is the separate air chambers in case of a puncture it will allow you to get to shore without losing anything or sinking.

I watched the entire series and loved all of them. That's an Alaskan hunting trip for sure, days and days of nothing and then..... Paydirt. I've been hunting Alaska since 2016 and every time I go on the first trip for any species I never get what I'm after but learn tons on that trip. It gives me fuel for the next trip so I can zero in on exactly what works. The next trip that I go after my first trip I usually get what I'm after. I know all too well those days and days and days of boredom and cold.

Oh yeah. Lots of people think Alaska is a target rich environment only to find out that wildlife is very spread out. Heck the average across the state is 1 moose per 10 square miles. Congratulations on the harvest. That's a nice Moose. I'm hoping to move to Alaska soon and i love the hunting and fishing so it should be a good fit. Is it hard to judge a legal Moose? I know some areas have to be 50 inches wide or a certain number of brow tines on one or both sides. What's the price tag for a hunt like this as far as the airplane cost? I have an ATV and was wondering if its better to use that to hunt with versus being dropped off in an aircraft or if you really need an aircraft to get to these spots?
@NewDivideOutdoors
@NewDivideOutdoors Жыл бұрын
Thanks! I loved it so much I had to move here as well. As far as judging, some say it’s tough but if you practice it gets pretty easy to tell what’s legal and what’s not. Every moose I see I’m always practicing my judgement. Price tag all depends on size of plane, how many trips such as gear and meat, and distance. You don’t have to use an airplane, there’s plenty of great places to hunt from the road system that are accessible by atv, just remember it’s just as easy for someone else to get there with an atv as well.

@@NewDivideOutdoors How do you like Alaska now that you live there? I'm hoping to move there this year or next year if everything goes right.
