@@jaybird111207 jason.... being the old fart that i am you probably did answer me back aways... not enough beer for me i guess !!! i knew you were busy with work as our plant would get many subcontract workers this time of year to help button the plant up so our regular workers could finish it off prior to snow falling. i had to engineer and inspect their work annually and in general many of them did much better work than our own workers !!! i am doing well... 3-4 miles a day, then coffee, then work on the pike for awhile in between other "stuff". just bought 2 bc rail ac 4400's from trainmaster and they were 65 bucks cheaper than most stores on line... some were about 45 bucks !!! they are in the blue and silver livery, not that awful red, white and blue crap !!! no tax either, so i figure, conservatively, i saved $40-45 bucks an engine on average and with no tax i am pretty sure i saved about 100 smackers !!! they will run in your honor tonight with a intermodal train of about 30 cars... blessings to you both !!! den

Just love the switch yards . Is the Deerfield yard close to you?. I'm over an hour away from any large yards. A CN and CP yard in London are the best for viewing. Both yards have a bridge at on end to get great pictures and videos. Thanks for the post Jason! Hey, on another note. For all the work I've done up at my son's club layout, they bought me the Rapido GP9 RM /GP Slug set (CN of course 😂). The owner (Wade Kelly) is going to weather if for me too. Hey Earl, this yard is in East Deerfield Massachusetts and is about 40 to 45 nins away from where we live now. The West Springfield CSX yard is like 10 to 15 mins away from us. We usually hit the West Springfield yard more now as we are closer. That was nice of the club to get you that locomotive and weather it as well. good morning, jason !!! aren't basic yard ops fun ? i have been using my huron central/bprr 1500's ( both gw family) as a consist just to get some action in but other :stuff" has come up... you know, summer things !!! my current dilemma is whether to buy a cando sd 40-2 ( either bowser or athearn) or one of those blue and white emdx (athearn) sd 40-2' engines and do a minor patch-out into a cn unit as i see they have several....well, its off to church for me, then sunday fun !!! be good !!! denny

Sounds like you have an important decision to make and I thought you were getting rid of some of your locomotives not buying more 🤦♂️😅😅😅 Don't worry I know I know 🤷♂️😅 I'm holding off on buying any locomotives for a little bit until maybe next year's Big E train show. Plus I still need to continue learning on how to program the CVs how I want them on my current roster of locomotives 😅 Look forward to hearing what you bought. Hey Earl, Tom does a great job that's why we're keeping him on and we will also have Fred working sometimes as well🤷♂️😅 The tape is something I thought about doing awhile ago however it was a confirmed good idea by a gentleman by the name of Daylight Dave God rest his soul🙏 Although there are a couple of areas I will have to squeeze a little cocking under the tracks to fill the gaps as I had laid the track down before taping 🤦♂️😅 No big deal easy fix. good morning jason !!! up early and all chores around the house were finished friday, so i am having 1st coffee and found something on the net and thought of you... springcreek has an athearn sd 39 in boston and maine/ guilford black that has the beautiful guilford "G" ( w/ the white arrow) dcc & sound for only $208 !! as soon as i saw it i thought of you.... the all black scheme is really nice and i have not seen them in years. just fyi of course, but i know you are busy and figured you don't get the chance to browse for deals much. it is not genesis nor their round house, but their "middle ground" line... hope this helps you !!! denny

@@jaybird111207 hey, jason !!! sounds like a nice weekend ! i will try to tune in your live show. being retired, i don't have good work weeks anymore, just the regular stuff but i have a friend coming in from the chicago area i played baseball with in my college days. probably catch a bflo bisons ballgame, beer ( i know you don't drink), absolutely the worlds best chicken wings from the anchor bar up in buffalo, which is where it all started back in our college days ( it is the bar where the first wings were made/invented !!!) , bbqing here on my back porch with more ice cold beer, then a class reunion saturday. as we are both single, i am sure we will be checking out some of the old broads we graduated with, but thats a stretch as most are in a wheelchair by now !!! the remaining few that are left either have no teeth or are heavy smokers ( ughhh !!) .... now you know why i work on my layout so much !!! have a great time at the tunnel inn and i will try to watch !!! denny ps.... hah-hah !!!

As always, a fun Yard operations run Jason. Like KerleyExpress said, you'll start finding those bugs. We really need to clear up our layout and get some operations in. Do you play around with the acceleration/ deceleration trims, CV- 3, 4, 5? it really smooths out the movement. Do you watch the DCC Guy, Larry Pucket? He is downsizing due to health issues and will be offering a lot of his rolling stock and engines to the KZbin community first before he goes to Ebay and the like. He has some nice stuff. It's too bad but he has to look out for himself first. Cheers Jason!! Earl

It's unfortunate he has to downsize, however at least he is keeping a couple of modules to do some more work and videos on. I didn't get a chance to watch the whole video he just posted yet. I caught the first few minutes though. That's nice of him to give the KZbin community first dibs on his collection. I haven't really experimented with the CVs in awhile. good mornin' jason !!! i am very glad to see you are back with us !!! please don't worry about me with regards to the sign... family/friends/faith are more important, but i am happy you are thinking of me !!! had several major changes recently... sold my boat, developed a very efficient cooling system for the layout room, which is upstairs and gets way too hot from june to september, had 3 kidney stones ( ouch !!! REALLY big ouch !!) and just early summer stuff like you. first level looks great... will you have a yard on the 2nd level ? sure hope so as you can then run yard to yard deliveries by just one rr or operate as 2 different railroads doing interchange service to each other. the csx engines look nice as well... hope to see the cr sd-38 (39 ?) running as i know you want to add sound. she pulls really well and is a very smooth runner. first cup of joe just finished, then 3-4 mile walk, run some trains and figure out what, for sure, the next project is.... and like you there are many !!! keep cool !!!

Jason, it's looking great! It great to see it on paper first and you can change it as needed. I'd say that your layout is the first time i've seen anybody, including myself, follow exactly as what was put on paper. Thanks Earl definitely a work in progress. The plan is not exactly to scale, however it's pretty darn close 🤷♂️😅 Absolutely Family, life, and work definitely come first without question. Besides if I didn't work I wouldn't have any money to pay my bills and rent therefore I wouldn't have a train room let alone an apartment to rent🤷♂️😅😅😅 I should be good now to at least get a couple of videos out a month if not a little more now that my schedule is alot more manageable these days. I would imagine you can however I haven't dabbled in that part of these particular switch machines yet. I know you can for the tortoise switch machines as I have wired up signals for them before. hi jason... hope all is well...any luck with the cr engine as far as sound goes ? busy on this end, too. several changes to the layout, biggest being conversion of the barilla pasta plant ( in central ny state served by wny&p prototypically and on my pike) into a chemical plant at first and now it is a scrap metal, lead acid and electric vehicle battery shredding/recycling plant !!! this change adds a ton of options to the layout ( piping/vents/air handlers/load in & out/process lines/ tankers/etc/etc).. hope you are ok as i lost you there for awhile !!! retirement is going well.... holiday will be pretty basic on my end, mow, work on the layout a bit, bare knuckle fights tonight, church , bbq sunday, and then a lot of races !!! blessings to you, my friend !!! den

Good morning Denny, I haven't forgotten about you, been super busy with well basically everything in life especially work. You know how that is 🤷♂️😅 I haven't had the chance to work on any locomotives yet concerning sound and programming them the way I would like them to be. The spare time I have for the hobby is designing my new track plan and laying down the track a little here and there. I'm about 3/4s of way done as far as track goes for the first level give or take. I do have my main bus wire in finally for the 1st level and a couple feeder wires hooked up. Definitely a slow process this time. We will be getting your sign done soon Brenda has been busy as well with work, helping me with some jobs, and of course grandkids 🤷♂️😅 I'm hoping to have a layout update today providing I get the things done I need to. Hope all is well and Happy Father's Day to you if you have kids or not I'm not sure I don't remember you mentioning it, but hey Happy Father's Day anyways!!
