It was so popular because of the relatively low cost and the fact it last longer than most people’s lifetimes. So to them it was a be all end all. When things were made to last

Wrought iron also contains lead.

Simpler explanation is the crystal structure of the oxide. same reason why aluminum doesn’t experience the same degradation in a salt environment despite being far more reactive.

I often wonder if there isn't a place for low strength higher rust resistant applications for wrought iron still alot of decorative applications or light duty stuff that isn't going to get taken care of as well

Hi, I have watched outdoors 55 and found his comments very interesting and helpful. I am a carpenter, but was years ago. I have a number of outdoor knives and would like sharpen them. I like your review. Cheers

I love how you can really capture the pattern, with a lot of KZbin videos it can be really hard to truly appreciate the pattern because the finer details aren't visible.

Seeing more and more of your work has sparked a minor obsession with wanting to learn more about making custom knives and especially Damascus, even if it is only ever a hobby for me. Can you recommend any good material or resources for a beginner to start learning more other than following KZbin and Google rabbit holes? I'm looking for a forge and tool setup right now as well but I really like to try to understand as much as possible about something before actually starting.
