Shade I also am a hopeful universalist. However, Jesus himself seems to put a condition on receiving everlasting life when speaking with Nicodemus (see John 3:15-16). Jesus then again in John 5:24 states that he who believes in the one who sent Him will have everlasting life and not come into condemnation. In this verse Jesus is actually contrasting everlasting life with condemnation. Then in Revelation chapters 20 and 21 we learn that there is a book of life, and if your name is not found in the book of life you suffer the second death. If there is a second death then how can everyone have eternal life? And if everyone is granted eternal life then why would there be those whose name was not written in the book of life. Furthermore, this second death is described as being the lake of fire. I would really like to hear your take on these scriptures and how they don’t devastate the idea that everyone will be granted everlasting life. If you could make a video addressing these verses, I would really appreciate it. I can’t seem to reconcile them in my mind with the idea that everyone will be granted eternal life. It seems to me that there is at least one condition, and that would be belief in Jesus.

Fair questions. Most think that 'everlasting' means for infinity. It actually doesn't. It means 'age-during' or 'age-abiding'. (Check Young's literal and Rotherhams translation). So often times, Jesus is speaking of a 'full or fulfilling' life; not going to heaven. And of course, 'condemnation' means 'punishment' and that is not infinite either. (I have presentations on this subject and plan to do more) As for Revelation, it's a very symbolic book. The lake of fire in that context is speaking of the Roman/Jewish war of 70AD. (I have a presentation called 'the lake of fire ended in 70AD that you may want to check out.) And lastly, we both know that lots of people 'believe in Jesus', but then they are told that they 'don't believe in Jesus the right way'...and it all falls apart again. (I would recommend my 'In Christ Claim' video). There is a 'purpose' to the belief. So once we establish that, we can see the difference between God's gift of salvation, and the rewards of the inheritance. PS - I have an entire series on Revelation from Chapter 1 to 22 in case you are interested.

It made me think "what good is claiming Christ then?" but you answer it. This is Jesus' reign. I'm glad to be wrestling with this stuff, and thank you for bringing Josephus into the fray. LOL I didn't know about Tacitus. I will have to read up on that. Does the book of Maccabees have anything to do with this, too? Thanks for the video!

Thank You for the kind and honest comment and testimony! Best as I can tell, 1st & 2nd Maccabees has much to do with the history of Israel, and delivers a 'pattern' for what eventually happened in the first century, but I don't get the sense that it has any direct literature to the events of 70AD. PS - If you are interested...I have a series available to all the public on The Book of Revelation from Chapter 1 all the way through to Chapter 22. It's a 'Full Preterist' view of that book. It may be helpful in understanding this interpretation, and again...it is free for all. Grace & Peace.

Also should we still do communion (eucharist) and baptism?
@ShadeStoneMusic
@ShadeStoneMusic 14 сағат бұрын
There is nothing wrong with doing communion, or baptism. That said, in 1 Corinthians 11:26, the communion was to be had 'until the Lord comes'. Since I believe He finished the work in 70AD, I don't believe it's necessary anymore, and same goes for water baptism because I can see the pastoral epistles speak nothing about baptism...but if you like to do those traditions, go for it and enjoy...my suggestion is that we don't speak ill or 'wag our fingers' at those who don't. Hope this helps!

So im trying to figure it out… does everyone go to heaven now then?
@ShadeStoneMusic
@ShadeStoneMusic 14 сағат бұрын
This is a fair question. That said, it depends how people view 'heaven'. In other words, I personally don't believe everyone gets a 'penthouse suite'. Much like in this realm, we are all positioned differently in both body and location. In Revelation 22:15 there are 'dogs' outside the holy city...they exist, and they don't seem to be in any kind of great distress; but they aren't 'in' the best spot, which would be the holy city.

I think this is the same battle Paul is having in the epistles he writes. That's why Paul writes: "What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid!! Paul is saying that God's grace should not produce more sin; rather, by recognizing how much God loves us and is graceful towards us, this will motivate us to extend the same. The Law (especially the letter of the law) just created more sin, cruelty and hypocrisy. But grace & truth (and truth is after godliness Titus 1:1) creates more love, mercy, forgiveness, and justice. The Law could never move people to avoid the 'works of the flesh'...but grace can. So by God's grace, avoid the 'works of the flesh' listed in Galatians 5; 'The Law also could not produce 'fruits of the spirit'; but grace can; So by God's grace, continue to teach and lean into the fruits of the spirit, also listed in Galatians 5. Let's not be Self-Righteous; Let's not be Unrighteous; Let's be Righteous. Hope this helps!

Jesus said he did not come to condem but they who did not believe were already condemned. Therefore I believe he was speaking of life here on earth. I also believe people can be reincarnated into numerous lifetimes, but they might not all be because of people learning lessons but rather people choosing to come back to teach others for more rewards in God's heavenly kingdom. As I heard it said, in the afterlife our surroundings will represent the state of our hearts when we died. We can always choose to go lower for the sake of being with loved ones but cannot go higher than what rewards we have come to posses. But whatever difficulties our possibly numerous lives on earth may contain im convinced that each person chooses to embrace those things to obtain more love for God and other people. But I'm also convinced everyone will eventually be saved and be in Heaven one day. Even though there may be infinite lives and infinite Earths I'm convinced that the reoccurrence of people coming to live on earth from heaven becomes more rare with time. As to whom becomes the saviors I think people take turns and there are many. As the last verse of Obadiah says many saviors from Mount Zion will go to save Esau. Esau represents the sinful man who sold his spiritual inheritance for one boul of soup. But even that man Esau will be saved. Truely God saves everyone even though as the Bible says God may visit the inequity of the Father's upon the children to even the 7th and 8th generation. I believe that means the Fathers may actually go through 7 or 8 cycles or reincarnation. Although I heard of at least one person who remembered 14 lifetimes in a near death experience. Perhaps it's possible that some have had many more.

Thank You for sharing boldly. Just a quick question; I'm not trying to be combative. I was under the impression that the Scriptures say that 'He visits the iniquity unto the 3rd & 4th generation'...Is there a Scripture that says '7th or 8th'?

@ShadeStoneMusic Your right it does say 3rd or 4th. I must have been thinking about native American prophecy and confused the two. In Deuteronomy chapter 23 it does say that racially mixed Jews could not enter the temple to even the 10th generation. But we know that wasn't closely followed as even Jesus was mixed as Ruth among others were not purely Jewish.

The problem with making a case using the Bible is that there are also places in 5he Bible that most definitely teach salvation by coercion. That is why there's over 40 thousand different denominations all using the same book with many many different creeds and dogmas. Once a Christian can realize that the Bible can be used as a tool to get closer to God but that it is not infallible or without errors, and that is should not be used as the sole authority to our faith, then we can actually come to a conclusion that makes far better sense than the idea that God sends good people to Hell for not professing the right creed or doctrine. I actually wrote and published a book called Confessions of a Free-thinking Christian where I go into this thoroughly

I am a Free-thinker, though I was a Southern Baptist for 10 years, a Catholic for 10 years, and an Eastern Orthodox for 2 years. But I have come to the conclusion that the Bible does have some words of God in it, but it is not infallible and without errors. And as far as salvation goes, I believe that God judges each and everyone of us based upon how we respond to Him, and according to how He has revealed Himself to us. Too many people have had many different cards that has been dealt to them, and to think that a loving God would send a good person to Hell to burn for eternity just makes absolutely no sense to me

My husband and children and I didn’t have our house paid off, but we had felt less to aggressively save back in early 2019 and when my husband was forced to choose his job or the thing he didn’t agree in, we were prepared to walk away. We sold our house, and got rid of most of our things and moved across the county in the last few months of 2021. We found a house we paid cash for, and a couple months later, my husband found a job. When we decided to move, we found out right after that I was pregnant with our 5th child. It’s been an adventure, it definitely has felt at times like we were out on a limb waiting for the next step, although it was very clear to us that we had been made ready to leave and our path was laid out before us to get us here.

@ thank you! And I completely agree. It’s been amazing also to see how God has brought a job that appreciates my husband and that he is thriving in, and his parents also decided to move here and are also mortgage free. One of my brothers just this last December announced he was thinking of moving here and just closed on his first home this week. We did run into opposition and people telling us we weren’t in faith, or that we were making a poor decision, but it was so obvious to us that this is where we were lead, that although it hurt to not have those people’s support, it didn’t sway us in it being right. On the topic of your video, I got myself an apocrypha in the last couple of years and it’s amazing how many things are referenced that fill in gaps of the 66 book Bible. Gen 6 is referred to a lot as a big even in multiple books and our understanding of the whole Bible has expanded because of our more full understanding of what was going on then. Sharing with non believers has become easier because I have a bigger picture to share and recently as I was explaining the pieces of the Bible and the apocrypha to someone who hadn’t been churches, she got excited and exclaimed, “oh! Like God is the same then and now!” Her complaint to me before had been that so many denominations disagreed about what’s right and wrong and she wasn’t seeing consistency. I love it when I find 2nd and 3rd witnesses to things in the Bible that turn up in the apocrypha too, or subjects I’ve been really curious about like being translated, or like I mentioned, Gen 6. Or even events repeating in someone else’s life that make it more than one person something happened to.

I don't know why you keep calling it "immortality" According to scripture, only God has immortality. But, if you want to call it everlasting life, (John 3:16) then I am in. Why is the distinction important? For the same reason you called out "becoming god in God's place" That means no one has the right to define any terms except what is already defined for us. BTW, I get the thrust of your message, and I agree with it. You should just tweak it so it is scripturally accurate. It isn't about immortality, it is about eternal life.
@ShadeStoneMusic

Thank You for bringing this subject up. I appreciate your kind suggestion. I would like (for clarification) to explain that the term 'immortality' isn't actually a term that I typically use. However, many in Christian Circles have coined this term. Therefore, I had to use it to explain why I disagree with it. In other words, the people that say they believe this type of 'judgment' don't say 'Conditional Eternal Life'...They say "Conditional Immortality". Hence, this is why I was using the term, that again, I don't typically use. Thank You.
@moodberry
@moodberry Күн бұрын
@@ShadeStoneMusic Thank you for not being defensive. Perhaps you should consider making another video explaining the difference between the two (eternal life versus immortality) It would certainly shake some people's tree. I believe it is an important distinction for several reasons. First, it would open the door to have realistic expectations about what God intends for eternity. It isn't about sitting on a cloud doing nothing forever (which is what immortality implies) OTOH, eternal LIFE is just that - it is life lived to the fullest. Another implication about using the term immortality is that someone who has "immortality" would sit in God's place, hypothetically being able to do the same things as God. That of course isn't scriptural. So what I am objecting to is that not only is conditional immortality wrong because of conditions, but it's wrong because of the implications surrounding immortality itself. Again, thank you.

Def agree with all this. I noticed a statement on inheritance and it seems you’re on the track of inheritance vs judgement. Not all inherit, but outside of that all will be judged, and there will be much more mercy and Grace then people can believe. Just like Matt 25:31-46. What you did for them you did for me. Even looking at Nineveh and the Queen of Sheeba. They didn’t worship God but honored the prophet and King therefore the rose in their judgment, yet we know they didn’t inherit. I think that’s the best message for people. Knowing judgment and what it entails, but also knowing the possibility of a great inheritance. That’s why Rev 21:3-8 it so important. We def have brought down a very seclusive in and out only dichotomy that I believe does not accurately portray God whatsoever. Anyone can drink freely at the well, and the call to God and inheritance is to those who take that gift and call on by Gods great gift to any man. And judgment. Is guilt and not guilty. Not automatic sentience to fire lol

Some pictures in Scripture show (for example) 'dogs' outside the Holy City in Revelation 22:15. They exist, but do not live in the fulness of the Holy City. God is kind to the evil and the unthankful (Luke 6:35), but that doesn't mean they get the Penthouse.

And to go deeper, 'eternal' is the word 'aion' in the Greek, which means 'age-lasting'...not infinity.

Probably a separate topic here: Have you yet done a video on the passages (Matthew 19:29, Mark 10:17, Luke 10:25, Luke 18:18) where Jesus and/or his inquisitors speak of inheriting eternal life? I know you have spoken about texts which speak of inheriting the kingdom. I am trying to understand how loosely "inheritance" language is used by the NT writers. Does "inherit eternal life" = "inherit the kingdom"? If not, why not?
@ShadeStoneMusic
@ShadeStoneMusic Күн бұрын
I think this is a fantastic question! The biggest challenge in my opinion is in understanding 'aion' which is translated 'eternal', but does not mean infinity. Youngs Literal translates the term as 'age-during'. Rotherhams renders it 'age-abiding'. So I get the sense that this is much more 'flexible' in application. The word doesn't deliver a strict timeline. My analogy is when someone says 'this is going to take a long time'. That 'long time' is flexible, not perfectly determined. Even the word for 'life' is a challenge, because it can mean physical or spiritual life. So it's not as simple as most Christians think. So at this point, my view is that it could equate to inheriting the kingdom, but not necessarily because the definitions of the words don't allow us to, in my opinion.

So many people with an addiction to their Sunday brick buildings have to come to grips with the fact that times change. "Extortions" of various kinds have become repulsive, and oftentimes stupid. No one wants to keep attending a church full of wannabe Pharisees. If you ever watched the podcast Girls Gone Bible (the two girls gave a beautiful prayer at Trump's inauguration) you will see a great example of the Revival that Jesus has brought to our times. Extortion is dead. New Christians who just want to tell everything about how Jesus has changed their lives to everyone, and their happiness shows, is a wildfire reconstituting the Church in ways we haven't seen in a hundred years. @ShadeStoneMusic just because you are saved doesn't mean you get the paradise. People who go to hell, they believe so they get to live forever too but they get the gnashing of teeth and discomfort. I know I'm really simplifying this, but the good guys who repent got their sins, who actually cares about doing good, they get the good stuff, the paradise. This is why the bible says something like, "if you mislead or stumble a little one, you'll wish you were never born because you're gonna get your "reward". It's better if you had a millstone wrapped on your neck and you sunk in the ocean than to mislead a little one." Immortality is simply from belief, but immortality is no good when you have to go to hell with it. I'm not going to lie to my child, nor even about Santa Claus. It's wrong. And I don't want that millstone.

I agree 100%. But unfortunately Shade we're told over and over again "if you don't tell someone that they are going to be spending an eternity in hell then you don't love that person." This is what we are told. So the extortion is pushed upon the flock to spread this message as well. And if the flock doesn't spread this message then they are also responsible for someones eternal fate. What a merry go round. Except it is not merry if you will. We once had a Korean lady staying with us for a few weeks. Towards the end of her stay an elderly gentleman friend comes into the house. He hardly knew her. But these were his words. "I have to tell you that if you except Jesus Christ as your lord and savior that he will foregive you of your sins and give you eternal life. But if you don't you'll spend eternity in hell." He didn't even know her. No relationship. But he had to tell her this. She on schedule left a couple of days later. We haven't heard a word from her since. I don't blame her. I at that time had no idea how to deal with this. I hope today that I wouldn't allow this.

No. The best date for the writing of Revelation is from 96-100 AD. In Revelation all prophesy starting in chapter 4 is future prophesy. In Revelation 11:1 John is given a reed to measure the temple, the third temple mentioned in Ezekiel. Ask a Jewish rabbi about the third temple.

John says there are 7 kings, and 5 had already died and the 6th was in position while he was writing Revelation, who many say was Nero. It's not likely that 2000 years later the 7th king didn't already die. Plus Revelation opens and closes with time statements that say the time was at hand and He would come 'quickly'. 2000 years is not quick. 5 years makes more sense in my opinion.

I have been taking all of this in and ruminating on it, so this is not a disagreement but a question: how would you understand Revelation 22, where it talks about only those who have followed His commandments having access to the tree of life? I see nothing of rewards, just LIFE. Outside the gates are dogs, etc. Is that how God is describing those who have a "lesser reward"? Again, I'm trying to learn, not trying to argue.
@ShadeStoneMusic
@ShadeStoneMusic 2 күн бұрын
Thank You for your polite approach on the question. I greatly appreciate that. If we look at verse 12, it actually does speak of 'rewards': "behold, I come quickly; and my 'Reward' is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be." Also notice that verse 14 says 'blessed'; not saved, or justified...but 'blessed'. So having access to the 'tree of life' is a 'blessing'. There are two ways that I view this section; that said, your interpretation above is one that I would offer. I see those outside the kingdom as still existing, but with lesser rewards; and those that are inside the kingdom with access to the tree of life with greater rewards because as verse 12 says, they were 'rewarded' according to their deeds. Thanks again!

Mr. Stone, in your opinion, why did God kill Nadab and Abihu when they brought strange fire to the tabernacle? Why did He kill Uzzah when he tried to save the Ark of the Covenant from falling off the cart? Why did He kill Ananias and Sapphira when they lied to the Holy Spirit? And why did He kill King Agrippa when he accepted praise and worship? I’m trying to understand where Christians get the idea that God will punish those who do not come to Him through faith in Christ. Also, the “Gospel of Peace” is part of a whole-the whole armor of God. It seems someone is supposed to put it on so that they can resist in the evil day and stand firm. Furthermore, I looked at the context of the verse you selected, Ephesians 6:15, and it appears that those in Ephesians 1:13 who heard the Gospel and believed are the same ones who should put on the armor-the Gospel of Peace. Additionally, while the Gospel of Peace may or may not have a transformative effect on the hearer, it is most certainly meant to bring comfort to the wearer. Finally, I am struggling with the timeline of events. If you don’t mind clarifying, did God reconcile the world to Himself at the death and resurrection of Christ, or when He destroyed Jerusalem? Thank you for your consideration.
@ShadeStoneMusic
@ShadeStoneMusic 2 күн бұрын
These are great questions. But my answers are simple. Does God in the physical sense not 'bring death' to all people? The answer is clearly yes. Paul affirms this in Romans 8:36 & 1st Corinthians 6:13. And of course, I could also ask 'why doesn't God still kill believers on the spot that lie, cheat and steal'? Why didn't God zap David before he took Bathsheba and killed Uriah? So as much as I appreciate the questions, It is clear to me that the simple answer is that what was happening in the time of Moses, David and the first century, God was making 'major moves' for specific purposes that did not and do not happen every day. But applying those 'physical' occurrences to permanent spiritual condition, is not proper application in my opinion. As for Ephesians, yes it's part of the 'armor'...so then how does our armor become 'threatening' in it's application? Threats only bring about anger and allow cracks in the armor. As for the timeline, I see time from the Feast of Pentecost (Acts 2) to the destruction of the temple as the 'process' of God reconciling the world to Himself. In other words, it started at Pentecost, but didn't complete until 70AD.

@@ShadeStoneMusic I appreciate your time and response. I absolutely agree that God is the one who gives life and takes it away. However, I do wonder: how do you know that God is not striking people down even today as a form of punishment or judgment? When Paul wrote to the Corinthians, he mentioned that some among them were dying because they were partaking of the Lord’s Supper in an unworthy manner. Who’s to say God is not still doing that? Regarding your question about David and Bathsheba, I would refer you to Exodus 33:19, Exodus 34:1-9, and Romans 9:14-15. God declares that He will have mercy on whom He will have mercy and compassion on whom He will have compassion, but He will not let the guilty go unpunished. 1 Corinthians 1:18-25 speaks of the offense of the gospel. I assume it is the same gospel of peace mentioned in Ephesians 6:15. I could be wrong, but it doesn’t appear that it was Paul’s delivery that offended people-it was the message itself. I’m not sure if you’ve addressed this, but where did Christians get the idea that God punishes those who do not come to Him through faith in Christ? Finally, in your estimation, was God still accepting the sacrifices the Jews were making after the death and resurrection of Christ? In what way was He reconciling the world to Himself during that 40-year period? As I mentioned in a past post, some family members referred me to your page, and I truly appreciate you engaging with my inquiries!

@ ...If those folks of the church that died having 'the supper', would they not still be redeemed? Paul doesn't say they lost their salvation. They reaped what they sowed. And Yes, God has 'mercy and compassion'...that's good right? And yes, punishment is part of the mix, but not 'infinite punishment'. David was punished...but not for infinity. Paul's message was to dump the law of Moses. So of course that was offensive. It was the center pin of their Nation and their Economy. But the law of Moses wasn't creating 'peace'. It was creating cruelty and hypocrisy. But Paul never says 'believe this or you are going to hell'. Paul never uses the term 'hell' or 'lake of fire' in any of his epistles. So clearly, he is not preaching that way. Christians have taken 'apocalyptic language' and turned it into an 'inferno'. The ancient writers used exaggerated terms to move the listener to realize trouble was coming. Mountains don't melt with blood, yet Isaiah uses terms like this. When God removed the temple, He removed religion. Read Colossians 2:14-17. Also 1st Corinthians 15 the back end of the chapter that says The Law was the strength of sin...no law...no strength. So when God took the law out in full, the world was and continues to be reconciled to Him.
