Gathering shock is really powerful and extremely fun! Its a great addition to this build but only if you know how to perfectly dash every time. Otherwise other abilities can outscale it without the additional effort. The spirit I have at the end is due some extra evasion rating that i got on my new Chest piece through the Lead me through Grace node and i definited the which boss for extra spirit.

Yeah later on in act 3 you'll have the chance to find items that can add extra sockets on your abilities, its simply RNG! Hope you get lucky :)

Indeed this build became the meta very quickly after the cold build for leveling - I was indeed super lucky with crafting a really good Chest piece for more spirit and completing all side bosses

Firstly thank you for your positive comment really appreciate it! Regarding your thoughts on the build, they are really valid. Monk is pretty squishy and the main thing is power charges, so it makes total sense to go with those options. However adding more to attack speed, attack damage and lightning make you breeze through everything without the need of extra charges or more defensives. The more and faster damage we deal the less defensives needed, for now atleast :D

Good question! You definitely want Herald of Thunder first no doubt! How much spirit you have will depend on which Act you're on. If you are on Cruel Difficulty you should have 60 spirit already. The best way to get em is to check the map in case you missed a side boss. Some of those bosses drop items that when you right click them they give you spirit. The way you find them is by opening the map and looking for the Skull Icons with a Plus next to them. Those are the bosses that drop the items. I have a video with 12 tips that showcases this aswell. That should help you out too :)

Thank you for the great comment! The truth is that Acolyte will not really help you with the lightning , or cold builds of the monk. It is designed for a completely different category of builds. This build will definitely work despite the ascendance up until you reach Endgame. Once you progress into the endgame a little bit you will start feeling it. However, there are some great builds for Acolytes too for engame that are extremely fun and powerful in case you wanna stick with it. Additionally, we're expecting to get more ascendancies per class which should be safe to assume that once they come out we will have the chance to re-specc. Im not sure whats the right decision for you but you've got the option to either wait until endgame and change your build to a more Darkness oriented one, or re-roll from now and go Invoker. Dont forget that anything is possible, they might nerf invoker or buff Acolyte. Bottom line is that Acolyte will not affect you alot from finishing Cruel Difficulty with this build.

@ScorpiusOfficial it's been tough not having a ton of spirit to work with but I'm getting spirit boosts from items so it actually made things not so bad choosing dark. At least for now.

@@fannyduster9194 Yeah thats a big plus! If you're running the lightning build on Acolyte then i'd suggest swapping abilities such as Falling Thunder and Killing Palm for Aura buffs since you've got the spirit. :)

The prime defensives are indeed Evasion Rating and Energy from armour and some passive nodes such as Mindful Awareness at the beginning of the tree. Resistances also play a huge role. Even if its simply leveling for now all these things help out a bit. Tbh it might just be gear, cuz i never had issues with lack of defense, whenever i died or got big hits was my fault for not dodging

​@@ScorpiusOfficialI'm having TONS of problems with defences. Started witch playthrough, got stuck being 1 shotted by everything close to end of act 3, decided to check out monk. Having so much more fun (ice strike), but I'm currently at the same spot as my witch and suffering same problems, feel like a glass cannon. Most likely I cannot properly craft or have the worst luck with drops, but I'm currently forced to swap some offensive passives for defensive nodes.

@@kxaamos Hmm interesting and sorry you're experiencing this, its actually pretty weird , only times ive been one-shotted were bosses that i didnt dodge on time. Definitely get some evasion rating from the passive, but this lightning build should destroy anything before it has the chance to hit. Evasion Rating and Energy Shield are a must, aswell as resistances. If spells are one shotting you then thats the issue. Ghost Dance aura helps a bit aswell. If you open the passive skill tree and you type on the top right Mindful Awareness, Immaterial, Enhanced Reflexes and beastial Skin, those nodes really help boost your defences but sacrifice your dmg

@@ScorpiusOfficial where did you find your 3rd socket and your level 2 support gem? I am almost at the end of act 2 and I done have a 3rd socket or even a level 2 support gem

I would suggest two things to focus on: If you have the 'Leading through grace' ascendancy node then you wanna find a chest piece with high evasion and energy shield, any chest will do. And most importantly you want a good Quarterstaff. Usually the ones called ''Gothic Quarterstaff'' are the best. I have provided some extra details on the new video that just came out :)

If the enemy is shocked you steal the shock and convert it into a charge :)

Thats a great question! Good news it does. Its the prime way that this build excels later on. You always want to hit the bell with Tempest Flurry. Bad news is that there might be an auto aim bot that directs you away from the bell and onto your target, so simply dash away or re-position yourself :)

its unlucky loot drop for you at this point, when i needed a good quarterstaff i never got one so i gambled

Even though armour reduces the dmg we get from phy attacks, its linked with Strength, therefore Evasion Rating and Shield are our focus.

@ I absolutely ripped through Act 1. I followed your suggested order of passives in the video. I only died a few times using your suggested skills. I picked up a level 5 skill gem after freeing that woman from the boss just before the Manor Rampants as a reward. So I was able to get Tempest Flurry very early. I then found a nice double socket Quarterstaff at the merchant back in town, qualitied,and rarified it, put two lightning runes into it and turned it into an absolute beast! I’ve never gone through The Manor that quickly! With Tempest Flurry and all those awesome passives from the tree, I didn’t take a backward step. I tore the place to shreds. . I took Count Geonor’s health bar down in his first phase so fast that he started bugging out and just stood there for ages before he finally transformed into the wolf. I then did the same to his final form as well . I took his health bar down that quickly, that he only did the mist phase once. That was the only mechanic he ever got to perform. He didn’t get to do his area damage with the ice all over the ground. He didn’t get to do his leap slam on top of me. He never got to shoot those white rays and red rays from above down on my head. I just dropped the bell and absolutely annihilated him! It was all over in just over a minute and half. 🤣 This is so much better than the other Monk build attempts that I’ve tried. Cheers mate! 👍🙂

@@KeironP1 Absolutely love the detailed comment and the fact that you're shreading everything down! Im happy to let you know that Act 1 final wolf boss in Cruel difficulty gets even better. The guy didnt even do a single fog, thats how fast this build killed him. Working on an updated guy for this soon :)

Make sure you go around the map and kill as many bosses with the + icon you have on the map , some of those give you 30 Spirit
